the content of the chats

I guess English is sort of a second language in California, so I forgive you, Matty-Cakes.

Jason, I know you have a grudge against this site.  It's become painfully evident over the last week or so since you've honored us with your posting presence once again, but English is not a second language to me or anyone reading the full reason why the chat was shut down instead of picking and choosing the things they want to represent, as you did.  You left out the first line for a reason, but instead of resorting to childish attacks against you like you did when I confronted with you with, oh I don't know, fact, I'll just leave it at that.

I can be as sarcastic an ass as you, kid, I just choose not to.

All you have to do is click the googlecache link to read the entire quote.

Which would have been all fine and good had you just left the link for others to decide on their own.  But instead, you chose to take a quote out of context, paste it into your post, and used it to support your argument.  That's fair...how?

I knew you'd fill in the blanks with a wall of explanatory text. This way, I only have to type a few things, you get to type a bunch of stuff, it's win-win-win.

Three sentences = "a bunch of stuff".  Wow.  Love to live in your world, Jason.

BTW, it's so nice to see someone who used to be so pro-JB to the point of other posters calling him out on it, turn on a dime to be be one of the most negative.  Bi-polar much?

To be fair, I'm barely literate. But, if I see something denoted (more importantly), the implication is that's the "more important" reason that's being offered for the action. In this case, the fact that the chats could not be controlled was the 'most important' aspect of the decision to close the chat room. That's all I'm getting at. I mean, we can agree on what 'more importantly' means, right?

I'd still consider myself firmly 'pro-JB', by the way....whatever that means. He's largely responsible for my 20+ year comic purchasing habit.

It's a pity the chat room went.

There's a whole bunch of ways one could spin it, Jason.  One could, if one wants to, spin it to mean the "big brother" crap that Marc was talking about. Or, as I know it to be, it's that what was written in chat about anyone and anything couldn't be controlled such that someone could write something that misrepresented someone else, JB and others, and that conversation was cut and pasted with the notation that it was taken from John Byrne's board. In effect, people were using conversations in chat to be representative of attitudes and opinions held by John.  I don't have to explain or defend that.  Take it for what you will.
