Did you double count it when poeple said "I'd like to see Dr Strange in The Defenders"?

To me that would count as a Defenders vote not a Dr Strange vote.

Hey -- the bean counter in me had to check Chad's count...

I get a rough of the following -- bearing in mind that I counted the choice equally if any thing but a passing interest was expressed in the book.  I did not count Dr Strange twice if a Defenders preference was listed.

Dr Strange  46
Invaders  43
Guardians of the Galaxy  37
Nick Fury  33
Black Panther  21
Black Fox  12
Ka-Zar  8

(the following were "write-ins")

Defenders 13
Union Jack 1
Exiles  4
Daredevil  2
Quasar 1
Inhumans 1
FF (dir. cut) 1
Mr Fantastic 1
Hawkeye  1
Captain Mar-Vell  1
Black Widow  1
Alpha Flight-The Hidden Years  1
Fantastic Four  1
Spider-Man  1
Thor  2
Iron Fist  1
Wonder Man  1

Looking at this - it's almost "too close to call" between Dr Strange, Invaders and Guardians of the Galaxy.

However, when The Defenders votes are factored in - there is a distinct fan-base wanting to see JB take on the mystical doctor -- but with a definite curve towards him being in a team book to allow for some creative diversity with additional characters.

When looking at that "team book" aspect - many of the fans seem to want a team-book from JB -- The Invaders, Guardians of the Galaxy or Defenders (Dr Strange).

Interesting...

Based on FF 258  I think JB could produce a pretty darn interesting Doctor Doom series.

I wouldn't mind seeing a JB Defenders title... (original lineup of course.)

Just in case Chad's count is correct, I'll vote for the Invaders.

I forgot all about Exiles! Good call guys.  That book is perfect.  You can do anything with all of the alternate realities. Anything.

I, too, think JB could have success with Exiles -- the fans of that book expect a new direction frequently and embrace team line-up changes as well as stories that push the limits.  Fans of JB's X-Men, Avengers, Alpha Flight and FF work would also get regular teases as JB interchanged the team with faces of "old friends".  Time-lines and continuity are out the window --- it is a dream JB assignment.

There were a few times I didn't count if someone said, "I like all these ideas...", but my head started going squishy after a while so I might've missing some.

Anyhow, one way or another, it looks like most folks have Invaders, Guardians, and Doc Strange as their favored JB comics.

Somebody upthread mentioned a SEVEN SOLDIERS type of thing, but more in line with how JB would do it, from a GENERATIONS angle, using all these ideas. I kind of think that'd be interesting.

And if I had to choose between the top three, I'd go INVADERS only because of the chance to see Union Jack, Blazing Skull, Whizzer, Human Robot, the Destroyer, Gorillaman and so on. I'm all for the Golden Age approach.

Your interest in Black Panther is surprising and what a welcome surprise that would be.  I think that the character would play to all of your strengths, but I have a hard time imagining a good BP time travel story arc (it would have to come at some point).

Obviosuly, you've never read of T'Challa's epic encounter with King Solomon's Frogs.

Without a doubt, The Invaders.

Dr. Strange!

And, even if JB already worked on this character... the Silver Surfer.

A new thread over on Millarworld.

Mark Millar:

 QUOTE:
Dr Strange would be a great fit, but I'd honestly pay money to see him on anything at Marvel. Out of the entire comic-book community, I think he's the most effortlessly natural Marvel creator. He's good on DC characters, but GREAT in the playground of Stan and Jack. I'd really love to see write and draw any of the icons like Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. Yeah, I'm a pillar of New Marvel, but it's a broad church and some traditional books in there too would be great right now.

Petition ASAP! But no halfway house by teaming him with someone from my generation. I want to see pure, undiluted Byrne.

Anyone agree?
