I'd love a Captain America comic set in World War II.

Looking outside the box, I would like to see JB come up with some completely new characters and storylines sort of like Kirby did with Marvel in the 70's.  Kirby didn't want to be strung up with working with characters he had already worked on (except Cap, of course) and he came up with the Eternals, and Machine Man, and other interesting things.

How about a story of superheros for the Skrulls that go around and kick some Badoon or Brood ass.  Maybe their mentor could be the Super Skrull.  Maybe you could couch it under a Guardians of the Galaxy for the first few issues and have the Guardians make a huge mistake and get killed off leaving these All-New, All-Different Skrulls?

I like the idea, but I think you'd need a new Super Skrull...his won/loss record doesn't exactly instill confidence as the kind of "go-to" dude such a comic needs. I'd be down for a new Super Skrull for sure.

Lesee...we have a lazer-Fist, a Super Skrull and a Power Skrull. Is Ultra-Skrull taken? Skrull Omega? Omni Skrull? Meta Skrull?

When I was assigned to UNCANNY X-MEN, the first thing I wanted to do was a Sentinels story. But Chris said the Sentinels were "lame". I was not about to give up, and I kept pushing. Finally, I said "The only reason the Sentinels are 'lame' is that you write them 'lame'," and I plotted "Days of Future Past" in which the Sentinels kick everybody's heinies.

All the Super Skrull need is a writer who knows what to do with him. (And, btw, a high lose-to-win ratio does not a poor villain make. Doctor Doom anyone?)

Okay, if this is pure fantasy, and whatever happens, John will never ever return to Marvel, then what's the point?

You seem to be having a great deal of trouble with basic English, Michael. Again, my first post postulates an environment at Marvel which would make it possible for me to return. No "never going back, but what it?" scenario here.

As to why? Well, if "pure fantasy" is of no interest to you, why read superhero comics at all? Why are you even here?

I'd be the last one to argue about characters not getting proper due because of poor writing, or worse mediocre writing. I've never gotten the impression of nobility of character from the Super Skrull, unfortunately, to the degree that he might carry his own title...it's sort of the same thing with Magneto from the early X-Men years to now--Magneto was a cowardly moustache-twisting rat and he'll always be that in my mind (though you could argue Magneto's de-evolution in the 70s DEFENDERS I believe and his return to corporeal adult humanity may have changed him...but why would it?). Now he's starring in his own feature film (eventually).

Maybe a good writer can put a spin of nobility on some of those losses. Well, they're pretty much all losses, but villains aren't known for winning, but for being thwarted. The best villains don't so much lose as they have victory JUST this close, and make a single mistake that costs'em.

Also, other characters who deserve better along these lines, Klaw (and that great Kirby design) and the Rhino (should be one of the more dangerous criminal thugs running around...even the Wrecking Crew gets more respect).

Frankly, I'd buy any of the books JB mentioned in the initial post, except the Ka-Zar one. I've never been a fan of that character, and aren't he and Shanna the She-Devil either separated or divorced in the comics right now? I'd most like to see the Invaders, Nick Fury or Guardians of the Galaxy book.

One question that was asked by another poster but I don't think was ever answered that I'd be interested in hearing an answer to: JB, would you ever consider doing a MAX title?

Not with existing characters.

I wish I could do an issue of a Max title.

It would be 22 pages of some random superhero shouting "fuck" while trashing a hotel room. Then it ends when he (or she) punches a mirror and looks into it and sees himself(herself) reflected in the spiderwebbed glass and says "fuck".

Then the next issue tease says "Next Issue: Fuck! Part 2!"

I'm thinking maybe the Contemplator would work well for that. Or Princess Python.
