Coming in January 2010:

BACK ISSUE! is the best comics related publication on the market and I love seeing JB's commissions turn up like this.

Oh by the way, the theme for the issue will be "Family" and JB's FF run will be featured.

And you thought no one reads these threads anymore, eh Joe? I want a bag like Franklin. I love that FF shade of blue.

Somehow I missed this one.  I love it JB!  Great idea by the comissioner.

And this is why the commission threads never lock!

As much as I have enjoyed all of the commissions (both big and small and all of them full of comic book fun) that have come after this one, this one is still my favorite.  The relationship between Franklin and Ben has always been special and pulls at my heartstrings even more since it reminds me of the relationship I have with my goddaughter.

This piece also serves as the optimistic bookend to the recent "Back to the Future", DOFP commission.

For those who ordered #38 you should have gotten a link to the pdf in your email, or at least I did. The article is nice, 19 pages, with sidebar comments by different creators recollecting about his run. Small sidebar about the annuals JB.

One little error though, they have the picture below with the caption "John Byrne proudly poses with a Fantastic Four illo"...I don't know if they tagged the wrong photo or what.

As for the commission, I love it. I had to do a small speech on how previous artists inspire current artwork and used this one as an example.

Incidentally, a friend and I visited the Rockwell Museum, in Stockbridge MA today, and I was able to see up close the original of the piece that was the inspiration for this commission.

It's always nice to see photos of commissions next to people to give you a sense of just how damn large they are!

JB,

How do you like the coloring job they did for the BACK ISSUE cover?
