Yeah, I started smoking in college specifically because of that drawing. I figured if it was good enough for JB . . .

•••

That may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I don't smoke, outside the occasional cigar when my former neighbor is trotting out the good ones --- and not even that in about 5 years. I smoked cigarettes for less than a year in High School, and a pipe for even less time in College. That's the total extent of my experimentation with the pernicious weed.

(And after all the times I have drawn myself in my comics, why anybody would think a skinny, dark haired buy is supposed to be me, I will never know.)

is a joke, about: how dumb can people be. "My hero smokes, so I should
give it a try!"

I hold you in high regard, JB, but it would take a lot more than you (or one of
your drawings!) to get me to smoke. At all.

+++++++++++

I believe the Modern Masters book has a caption that refers to this piece as a "self-portrait"!

Well, it sure looks like whoever it is has John Byrne art on his drawing board.

A swipist, I guess . . .

well I know I'm way late on this one..but after going through all the commissions in the gallery this may well be my favorite. Did anyone ever claim ownership of this one?

Ahoy there, Mates!

Michael Eury is seeking permission to use this piece as a cover for an
upcoming magazine. Giving that permission more belongs to the owner of
the piece than to me, so if you are inclined, you can respond here with your
yeah or nay.

Thanks!
