Avatars are fun, signatures are a bit of a waste of space.

I have signatures turned off, but I had a sig line that had a link to my web-ste that I must have put on years ago, tho I don't remember putting it there. Did I know about no self-promotion?

Doesn't matter; it's gone now.

I agree they're annoying when they're huge and full of graphics.

Mine is short and sweet and is appropriate here.  A simple "I think" at the end...mostly my clever (in my own mind) way of punctuating my post.

I usually stick in a quote I like, and change it ever so often.

I use my signature line to cause injury to the French language. Spanish class fo' life yo!

Emory, your sig line always bothered me because I couldn't understand it in the slightest, and every time I saw it I always wondered "Why is that ryhme so bad in French?"

I just scrapped mine.  I was, without thinking about it much, going by old usenet standards:  Text only, up to two lines, is ok, anything more is rude.  The neurons didn't ever connect to make me realize that it really was a form of self-promotion, and at odds with board policy.

Emery, I like the grumpy cheese.

Is a link to my eBay auctions considered self-promotion?  I thought I got permission for that a few years ago when I joined.  And we do have a whole page for selling stuff.  If you think it is self-promotion, JB, I will change it.  Please let me know.

Keith, my sig translated to something like " I swear I am a happy pinapple. Please do not anger the grumpy cheese."

It was supposed to be a terrible rhyming couplet because it was absurdly nonsensical gibberish that sort of rhymed.

If my sig line offends, just let me know and I'll remove it.

I don't give a shit what JB or any of you think of my sig line. It makes me smile every time I see it.

I think everyone here is majorly overreacting to all of this. If sig lines weren't OK, we wouldn't be able to use them.

Al, I read and ignored your sig line for the longest time...with just a small grin to show for it...and the I noticed who was credited with the quote and I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself.

I know. It's so perfect. I loves me some Rachael Ray, especially when she's got her unicorn-clobberin' pants on.
