To tell the truth, I used a sig just because I could, what, 5 years ago!
I sometimes change my avatar but never ever bother to even think about the sig.
It's just something that is there...

I have always thought it would be cool to own a winery.

The closest I am going to get is I have learned you can make your own Root beer which I am pretty excited to learn.

Off Topic but if any one from the Chicago area is reading this, Duck Island Beer Company makes the BEST root beer I have ever drank.

Carryover.  I've used him as my sig line for years, not just on this board but dating back to the old Net54 days.  I like it as tradition I guess.

I don't find the signatures on this board bothersome, they are mostly all text and a few sentences at most.  I don't often agree with Al's posts, but his signature always makes me laugh.  I also associate avatars with the members, I have to keep reminding myself that people don't look like their pictures.

I've had Duck Island. Its really good. We've also made our own root beer. It wasn't.

Follow the instructions carefully. Take your time and don't take shortcuts. All I can say is trust me on this one.

I've changed my sig line twice. I think the current one sums things up nicely. My feeling is if you don't want me to use one, don't allow me to. And if you don't want to see it, turn it off.

That being said, I have no intention of abusing the privilege. And yes, it is a privilege that can be removed, like the polls. Or the chat room.

I use my current sig because I have gone deep into the social networking and have always been a gamer, and it seems like raptr serves both those things.

The color scheme also matches the board now lol

Totally agree.  I associate people with their avatars.  I've thoughtabout changing mine on occasion, but I've used it for so long I thinkit acts as short hand for people scrolling through a thread

I want to replace mine, but I feel like it would be practically like starting over with a new identity on the board.

People don't look like their pictures? Crap, cartoon me actually kinda does look like me, I guess I'm doing it wrong.

I like a lot of the signatures on the board, some are just dross but I like Al's, and Victor's.

With my signatures I just put up something I find pithy or funny which is usually Star Trek related, hopefully someone sees it and laughs and it brightens their day a bit.

I do want to change my signature but haven't heard anything or thought of anything to change it to yet.

A line of text is fine. But a big banner (like Robin's) is seriously annoying when they're posting many times on the same page.

Thanks anyway because through this thread I've discovered I could in fact turn off signatures so I went to the other forum I frequently use and disabled them. What a relief !
I've always thought that here on byrnerobotics.com, things were quite reasonable and there were no long signatures. I change mine every now and then, usually song lyrics I really like..
