Jeff, you have HSA mixed up with FSA, which is a "flexible spending account." HSAs are, per federal regulation, owned by the account holder and do roll over from plan year to plan year. There are a lot more complexities involved that I won't bore everyone with. But the two are not the same. BOTH are affected by the new regulations and are mentioned separately, but confusingly, in #7 in the article.

Whoa...giant text. Didn't mean to shout. And Jodi, may I say you are one of the sweetest people I have ever run into on a message board? You keep on erring on the side of compassion. We could do with a lot more of you. I can't believe you didn't win your election, because you should be in Congress.

Mike, you are correct on the names. My mistake. I've been losing the pollen wars here and enjoying some of the better drugs.

Here's my one-shot statement on Health Care, for what its worth:
I grew up with a Father who worked in a factory and never made more than $14.00 an hour in his life, and a Mother who was a full-time homemaker. We had great insurance and very little bring-home income. My mother had diabetes, my father had heart problems, I had severe eczema. We never at any time were threatened with losing everything because of doctor bills. My sister and I wore second-hand clothes from a charity called the Lion's Den. We didn't eat at McDonald's or, god forbid, a sit-down restaurant. My mother cut our hair (badly). When we had vacations, it was always a drive down to family in Alabama so we could stay with them without hotel costs. But we never lost our home. We never were sick without recourse. We always had enough to buy groceries. We always had enough to pay for Boy Scout dues, and field trips and Christmas gifts.
All because the low paying, grueling factory job my Dad reported to each day offered comprehensive health insurance. So, for my part, if I now have to pay more in taxes so more people don't have to actually stress and suffer without lack of health care, I'm willing to pay. Its an unbelievable security, one which frees people to spend their earnings on the other necessities of life-- shelter, food, what have you.

I did Mike. Believe me, I did. I'm expecting the FBI to show up anytime thinking I'm running a meth lab here.

Jonathan what a great "one-shot" post, very well stated .

Dang my allergies are kicking my butt, too. I have found very little to help me this year. What better drugs are working for you?
"Well, no one can say you don't have "balls", Jodi..... "
Yep and here is my theme song LOL
And I just provided proof on why I would never get elected, OK that and my temper, and....... OK my sometimes foul mouth. LOL
"And Jodi, may I say you are one of the sweetest people I have ever run into on a message board?" Awwww that made my day. But there are some on here that would say otherwise and they would be right, I have had some, not so shining moments. But I am always trying to be better.

OK here is a question for those on the right.
If we could have Universal Health Care by cutting waste and keeping your taxes at the current amount or a slightly lower amount. Would you be willing to support Universal Health care? Or are you against any govt. involvment of health insurance?

Jodi, I've been trying Claritin so far, but it's been losing. I'm moving to full strength Benedryl at night now. Lots of Advil to try to ease the pain and Vicks nasal spray to attempt to dry up the sinus cavity. One of the major problems I have is that I have sleep apnea and wear a bi-pap at night. Sinuses are already swollen and painful, and now I'm putting additional air pressure on them when I'm trying to sleep. UGH! Feels like a toothache in all of my upper teeth! I just hope this mess doesn't start a sinus infection. I've already dealt with 3 this year. Cutting waste should be a requirement no matter what. But, the government has shown time and time again that waste is part of the SOP. Not only waste, but the government has shown that it doesn't know how to handle money. Look at Social Security. Everyone that gets paid sends money to Social Security. Instead of a "lock box", politicians decided it would be a great idea to spend the money on other things and put IOU's into the lock box. Not really the best way to handle money, in my opinion. Now, with the current plan money is going to start being collected now and the majority of benefits are going to start in 4 years. Do you honestly think that money is going to be there waiting for people when they start making claims?

Jeff, I'm in terrible allergy agony - I grew up in urban treeless San Francisco and now live inland California and my head is swollen up like a jack-o-lantern.What works, kind of, for me, is a mixture of a 24 hour pill plus the methy 4 hour pills. Loratadine used to work well for me as the 24 hour pill, but since I left Kaiser I have trouble finding it, or at least affordably. I currently take Zyrtec as the 24 hour one, and the red meth pill every four hours. At it's worst, I also take prescription nose spray and an inhalor. As well as medicated eye drops. I also use a netti pot to flush my sinuses out.

The government has shown that it can handle money adequately - the majority of this is done through day-to-day services such as public education, DMV, social services, the courts, emergency services, etc. This is government run daily by people just like you and me.
It's the idiots in Congress who show a complete lack of so called fiscal responsibility in their spending frenzies. If waste is to be curtailed, many millions could be regained if Congress argued through each ermark on a case-by-case basis. Sure it may mean that members of Congress will have to work more than 3 days per week, but there you go.
Let's look at the other end of the spectrum - if government is incompetent in handling the money, who is? Private industry? Please. For profit groups have their own agenda. Imagine if every social and public service was handled through the same nickel-and-dime cut-throat death panels that we normally call teh insurance companies... or the gluttonous institutions of Wall Street. You think it's better to give these people MORE money? LOL!
Between private industry and government... the government is definitely the lesser of two evils in handling our tax dollars and how they're spent.
