Erm, I know this isn't what you meant, but their stated agenda is what I wrote: helping poor people.

From an article by Clark Hoyt, Public Affairs Editor of the New York Times, published March 20, 2010:
Acorn’s supporters appear to hope that the whole story will fall apart over the issue of what O’Keefe wore: if that was wrong, everything else must be wrong. The record does not support them. If O’Keefe did not dress as a pimp, he clearly presented himself as one: a fellow trying to set up a woman — sometimes along with under-age girls — in a house where they would work as prostitutes. In Washington, he said the prostitution was to finance his future in politics. A worker for Acorn Housing, an allied group, warned him to stay away from the brothel lest someone “get wind that you got a house and that your girlfriend is over there running a house of women of the night. You will not have a career.” FAIR said that in Brooklyn, O’Keefe and Giles seemed to be telling Acorn staffers that “they are attempting to buy a house to protect child prostitutes from an abusive pimp.” That’s right, but FAIR left out the part about their clear intention to operate a brothel, which the Acorn workers seemed to take in stride, with one warning: “Don’t get caught, ’cause it is against the law.” The videos were heavily edited. The sequence of some conversations was changed. Some workers seemed concerned for Giles, one advising her to get legal help. In two cities, Acorn workers called the police. But the most damning words match the transcripts and the audio, and do not seem out of context. Harshbarger’s report to Acorn found no “pattern of illegal conduct” by its employees. But, he told me: “They said what they said. There’s no way to make this look good.”

It was hard to read your text so I wanted to post the important part: Harshbarger’s report to acorn found no “pattern of illegal conduct” by its employees
Robert as the Rachael Maddox clip pointed out, there were real issues with ACORN, my point is, Fox news ran with and promoted this faux journalist and his lies as the second coming. They then promote the lie to their viewers and people just keep lining up for more.
But then again, the same people really didn't care they were lied to about the reason for attacking Iraq.

Jodi, help me out here. From what I can tell from the Maddow clip is that O'Keefe didn't dress up as a stereotypical pimp while claiming to be one. Is that the big lie? Nice work of editing there though. You reposted one part of a sentence that you feel is important, but leave out the one that says "But the most damning words match the transcripts and the audio, and do not seem out of context." It's almost like you were using only part of story that leads to the conclusion you want people to draw. Very similar to the video editing you were complaining about before. Individual ACORN workers, not a "pattern of illegal conduct" gave the illegal advice to O'Keefe and Giles. I'm fairly sure that ACORN didn't have a written policy to help pimps find safe houses for underage foreign girls to work as prostitutes. But, we could always use a broad brush to say if one person did it, it means the whole organization does it and condones it.

Jeff I am just finished with a project and I am dead tired, so I will keep this short.
The issue is Fox promoted a manipulation, a glaring example is, the guy they talked to about bringing under age girls to the border, the guy was portrayed in the video as someone helping them to do this and what he actually did, was call the police on them. This story was NOT fact checked and Fox ran it as the complete truth.
The trouble is Jeff, if there were major parts of this story that are outright lies and Fox carried and promoted this story, what else are they lying to you about or giving half truths? Don't answer this with a question, tell me, doesn't it bother you they do this? I mean, if you don't mind that's fine, I will just understand you a little better if you are OK with this.
Question for the legal minds on here: Could the guy they portrayed in the video as someone helping them and in fact had turned their info over to police, could he sue this kid and Fox for slander?

MSNBC & FOX = two sides of the same coin.
"Righty" vs. "Lefty" "debate" = yawn.

YES! I can post through my iPad. I love this gizmo!Jodi, I promise you that man who called Pelosi was not me nor a relative. Wasn't able to watch the video (there's got to be an App for that I haven't downloaded yet) but the link showed a still of his face. Why do all the crazy guys all have the same look? As for ACORN, there was enough dirty laundry there that our "undercover journalist" and his fake news really detracts from the real story of voter registration fraud where there have been convictions. Just heard Stupak is not running again. No surprise there. I would have hated to be his campaign manager. ("We focus group tested 'I was against Healthcare before I voted for it' and that really isn't working with swing voters...") Best get off the iPad and off to breakfast. Big day today for me and the lad. Off to the Reagan Library. And don't worry, Mr. O'Brien, I will make sure to give the boy the "other side of the story" if the museum gives only the --dare I say it? -- the Hollywood version...

Defending what? Just pointing out that every story is edited in one way or another. That's just the way it is. *********** If you edit a video to make it look like someone is helping you engage in human smuggling of underage girls for prostitution, you're a fucking douchebag. If you compare that to the editing done by MOST* news organizations, as if they routinely try to slander people who did nothing wrong, then you're a fucking douchebag. *The word MOST does not include Fox News, of course.

As for ACORN, there was enough dirty laundry there that our"undercover journalist" and his fake news really detracts from the real story of voter registration fraud where there have been convictions.--- Well, even with that, there has been a huge misrepresentation. What you had going on there was voter registration fraud with low-income workers trying to get out of work by submitting fake voter registrations (which were subsequently flagged as problematic) and some ACORN offices fostering the environment for this to happen by setting illegal quotas for their employees. The way this was presented by some of the media and politicians on the right was that this was a vast conspiracy of voter fraud in order for the evil socialists to get their candidates elected. Because no one would question Mickey Mouse voting Marxist.

"If you edit a video to make it look like someone is helping you engage in human smuggling of underage girls for prostitution, you're a fucking douchebag." Then it's a good thing that's not what was done then, isn't it? "But the most damning words match the transcripts and the audio, and do not seem out of context."
