As I see it, Mike, you made a broad based [AND WRONG] statement, and now you're trying to either defend or explain it. Why not simply stop trying to defend or explain yourself, because it sure seems like no matter what you say, it's going to do nothing. If that's the way you feel, so be it; leave it at that.

John, Mike did not say John O Conner or Jodi Moisan or Geoff Gibson are racists, but you have to admit we do get some positive benefits for being white in America. Do you honestly think it is not easier being white in America, than it is to be black?

I think John completely didn't get what Mike was saying.

Al -- don't guess as what I got or didn't get; it's insulting. What Mike said was wrong; period.
Jodi -- I don't presume to know what anyone else goes through -- I also don't know if Mike is white or black... or American Indian, Spanish, or Asian for that matter. For him to presume any mas benefit based on HIS and HIS ALONE experiences is a bit disingenuous, no?

What Mike said sounded right to me.
And you seem to presume plenty.

I believe it is easier to be an educated, upperclass black individual than it is to be a poor uneducated white person. Class and education are key factors. When all things are equal I will concede the fact that in many, possibly most cases, it is easier to be white.

Which is what Mike was saying. Makes sense, sadly.

He did clarify his statment but you must agree Mike did say all white people are racist. That I do not agree with.

His clarification made his meaning clear. I understood what he was saying. Others, it seems apparent, did not.
John presumes what Mike said was wrong, then tells people not to presume. Interesting.
