Who wants a bill rushed? That's silly. But having said that, Congress and Obama get the "game"; the longer they sit around playing grab-ass with each-other, the more time the Republicans, who have publically committed to being the party of "NO" and won't vote for anything, out of pettiness, the more time they have to get the masses all antsy in the pantsy with lies, distortions and propaganda. In other words, if it doesn't, as the Republicans like to say - take the "EXPRESS" - then it dies due to Republican Propaganda, fear-mongering and lies.

Both Democrats and Republicans deregulated finance.

Jason, I note -- albeit not you nor even specifically anyone posting in this thread -- that many in the "You've got the majority, Democrats, hurry up and get things accomplished!" camp are (when the Republicans hold the majority) often in the "Use every legislative means possible to stop the evil Republicans down from destroying the country!" camp. And Republican supporters act similarly when their party is in and out of power. The biggest change in the last few years is essentially the continuous election cycle. The election season used to be less than six months at the end of the Congressional term: primaries and then the election proper. That left 18 months to legislate. Now, given the amounts Congressmen have to raise to run for re-election and the constant focus on each and every vote as a test of political purity, the next campaign starts the day after the last ends. It's hard to find compromise when you are constantly on an election footing.

Michael Retour, Remember, we are visiting in JB's online house. We do have to respect his rules. You can find this one on a sticky on the main forum page: The JBF is a Wikipedia-Free Zone. Any posts that link to or take information from Wikipedia will be deleted no matter what their content.
I'm certain you can re-source your statement from an appropriate website.

It would appear that is hard to find integrity too Matthew.
Of course, this man of virtue named Obama is here, and he is different than every other elected official right? He acts only for good, like Clark Kent.

Michael, I fail to see why you choose to attack me. I merely informed you of a policy. I referenced the fake name because it has been pointed out as being against the rules several times on this thread.
I have had no harsh words with you and deserve better treatment.
But to answer your question...A person's brain can certainly be used for reference but said person should be prepared to back up statements.

Matthew the point is that deregulation of finance came from both parties and Obama isn't going to re-regulate finance at all.
Dodd's bill is getting the boost, Lincoln's (because it is stricter) isn't.
The Wall St Journal is already saying Wall St has nothing to fear from Obama, that he opposes strong measures against it.

Michael Retour, I have no difficulty with your point. In fact, I agree with it. Nevertheless, it's going to disappear when the Mods wipe it out because it's from Wikipedia. I strongly urge you to edit that post and make the same point with a non-Wikipedia source.

Thanks Matthew. I went ahead and just got rid of it. What is the deal with Wiki? I know it isn't the top source but for something like this? Or is it in general?
Don the fake name comment. Nuff said.
