As they said on FARK: "George W. Bush's book "Decision Points" being released November 9th. Here you all thought it was going to be coloring book, but the sneaky bastard went all "Connect the Dots" on you"

Perhaps it should be placed next to THE PET GOAT.

Doesn't mean he is either.

****************

And your point is exactly what? Did that somehow change the point I was making? (Although I may have misunderstood Matthew's joke. My apologies Matthew.)

There are a great many people I disagree with politically (Matthew being one of them, Jason too.), but I still think they're pretty good eggs. (Matthew being one of them, Jason too.)

So whether he may not be a decent human being actually has no bearing on my point. But of course, you knew that.

Your point, William, as far as I can tell, was to defend a person that you don't personally know, regarding an inoffensive, offhand statement that was made in jest.

Paulo,

William thought he saw an unwarranted slight and spoke up, in a very reasonable and respectful manner. I certainly don't begrudge him that. In fact, more people should behave that way (both challenging possible injustices and doing so in a respectful manner).

And while context should have made it obvious the comment was meant to be wry, we're living in a country right now where a lot of people are saying some pretty nasty things about the President and not giving him the full respect due his office. Accordingly, there's a fair amount of protectiveness toward him from his supporters. (Personally, I think President Obama has done a reasonably good job under incredibly trying circumstances. Of course, at this point in his term, I felt the same way about President Bush, so I might not be the best judge in these matters.)

I think William is a good egg, too. A little hard boiled, perhaps, but that's okay because I'm clearly a little scrambled. As long as neither of us is over easy we should do all right...

Fair enough, Matthew. I was just making my own observation.

Since getting out of office Bush has grown on me. I dunno if its because he has kept his mouth shut since leaving office or just looking good in comparison to Palin and the teabaggers.

Stone's movie about him made me see him in a new light. Not a bad guy, per se, just wildly innappropriate for the office of President.

I do, however, think that Palin is a bad person.

Well... yeah, I wouldn't want to be in the same room with the guy,but I don't think he's sinister or flat out evil, like Palin.

I would agree with the word "horrible", but in reference to the Bushes as a whole, it would be about how I think their belief system is personally destructive, though with many of the Bushes and W in particular, I don't think he's smart enough to realize the effects of what he does.

I think he really is mentally deficiant. He would be a decent enough trust fund kid - drinking and snorting his days away. But put him in charge of America and... well... let's just say he's got a lot of blood on his hands. If he were smart enough or empathetic enough, he'd be pulling a Lady Macbeth right now. It's almost a blessing, for him, that he's so feeble minded. The reality of what he's done would destroy a man of average intellegence.
