Does this include podcasts, or any other audio or video medium?

••

Let's not start chipping away at this, okay? "No interviews" means no interviews.

If this means less time away from the drawing board I am all for it.

Some artists have really taken up resting on their laurels, all they do is travel,
make appearances, talk at panels...every now and then, there's a new fan
sketch and that's it.

JB is the real McCoy!

JB:

I concur with your decision for a number of reasons:

1 - those of us who have followed your career for many years in print media both appreciate and enjoy the extent to which you make yourself very accessible here at JBF
2 - younger readers who may encounter your older or current works in print are savvy enough to track you down here, thereby joining the ranks of the above
3 - this venue provides you and your audience ample opportunity to interact with each other and experience your unfiltered, unvarnished and unfettered opinions, comments, answers and, most importantly, your craft in almost "real time".

I'll take that over a canned interview any day.

I could only think of one interview since this site was launched which I would have missed if this rule was in place earlier.

JB gave two interviews for the Comic Creator's on series that were conducted by Tom DeFalco. In one book, John's period of the X-Men was also covered by Claremont and Louise Simonson. However, I don't think there would have been a substitute for JB's interview regarding his Fantastic Four run as he inked over half of the run and had multiple editors. While everything in the interview was disclosed earlier or could be found out here, I think a thorough look at the history of the book through its creators would have been diminished by JB's absence.

So is the Draw interview cancelled?

BTW - I was just reading Back Issue's retrospective of JB's run on Fantastic Four, and it provoked me to go out and buy the TP that contained the Negative Zone story line.  So...sometimes these articles and interviews might lead to sales of TPs, and generate some residuals for the creators?

But you're giving up on such a handy way to get misquoted!

Fully understand your decision.

JB, if some one was say, write a piece/article on your work, would it be all right to field questions to you here when clarification may be needed? That is to say, ask a specific question, and maybe quote this message board? I can understand that you no longer want to be misquoted and what not, but having access to the living breathing artist in question is an invaluble resource in discussing said artwork.

I did like the JB video interview that was on the Spider-Man DVD (nearly 10 years ago!!), but other than that, since this site has existed, I've always come here for my JB interviews.

Isn't that kind of like saying that people who want to buy comic books will have no problem tracking down a comic shop thereby joining the ranks of comic fans?

Expecting a market to come to you isn't going to grow that market. If JB isn't going to actively promote a project beyond here, why should anyone else promote it? If nobody promotes anything, you're limiting the members to join the ranks.

I had never heard that podcast interview . . . awesome to hear JB's voice, even if familiar ground was covered at times.  Thanks Chris!

Nope.

IDW would promote the books because they are the publishers.
