OK, apologies to JB for mis-reading his response to me, for some really wierd reason I read that you responded 'If I had said Union Jack etc I understand that refering to it as the Union Flag may have caused some confusion to Americans. However, its name, when not on a ship, is the Union Flag. As someone who has championed the correct nameing of Spider-Man, eBay and use of 'than' over 'then' I thought this in itself would be important. Whether it has a popular usage as Union Jack doesn't make it right as that's not its name. Similarly, spiderman is not Spider-Man's name. Just wanted to explain why it's so important to me.
