Having 3 Byrne covers from the 80's hanging on my wall is very cool to me and helps to justify why I have to work so bloody hard, so I can certainly understand why people are willing to spend large amounts on them.•• That's kind of circular thinking, isn't it? You wouldn't have to work so hard for them, if they didn't cost so dang much!

•• You're correct, but I don't have a choice about working hard, so it helps me when I see what I can buy. The logic is perverse but I really can't cut my work down at present, so anything to help one get through the day.

Looking forward to seeing what the 3rd cover is...the other two are wonderful examples!
Back to the subject at hand, question for the forum: Of the 137 pages, which do you think might be most vaulable?

Both are great, but the Action Comics one is easily one of most favorite of all time...

I like that question! We'll disqualify the cover and two-page splash that opens the story. Lots of good action pages. I think if it was my money, I'd be willing to put the most towards the page with Colossus battling Gladiator and everything crumbling around them!

Wait, that issue wasn't that long... Oh... Probably the page where Jean is blasted.

IIRC that was JBs 500th page. Love that one!

Despite Chris screwing up how I intended Manta's powers to work (one of the distinct downsides of the plot-pencils-script approach) I have a fondness for this page. It was my 500th X-MEN page. Back in those days, that seemed like quite an achievement!
Shortly after this, tho, Marvel bumped the page count back up to 22, so I was hitting over 100 pages with every five issues.
