 | Now I feel even more dumber (!) about asking stupid questions
concerning Walt Kelly this morning! You were working on this bad boy.

Soon as Ryan Maxwell sees this his head will Splode!

Insane panel that I would love as a huge poster, like 3'x5'!

 LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

That one image contains more motion, emotion, and drama than the entire contents of most comics these days.

Simply wonderful. You so rock, JB.

Love this one and I especially like JB's use of the term "index claw" to describe the one closest to Wolverine's thumb.  Does that make the claw farthest from it the "pinkie claw"?

Very nice piece! I have no knowledge of the story this was pulled from, but it certainly piques my interest!

 | I can go on and on about the inks, greys tones, etc.

Congrats to the commissioner and JB, pure beauty.

 | Fantastic work, JB. I love seeing the commissions here -- it is one of the best parts of this website -- but I am often struck by how much I miss reading these characters.  I was thinking how JB always captures the characters so on model, so perfectly conveying personality.  Then I realized that the model I'm implicitly referencing is always what I consider the "classic" version of the characters -- i.e., when I was reading them waiting for JB's monthly X-Men, FF, or Superman to hit the spinner rack.  That Wolverine is so long gone that I don't know if anyone could say it is the model anymore as opposed to the character that's been running around for 10, 20, or even more years.  Times change, and tastes change.  The current Wolverine is the only Wolverine many younger readers have ever known, and that is now the character. That's a rather jumbled way of saying how the commissions always seem so right to me and invoke the best in the charcaters, but the characters are rarely the ones now being published.  "Back in my day . . ."   |
