Dale, a trick I kinda of taught myself is to shade the negative areas with a hard brush/line and then highlight with more of a wash. That way it looks like a cartoon and still looks "3d"

Something I'm working on.  Sometimes, when I have a brainstorm like this, I just have to let it flow...

Thanks for the Tips JT. Any and all feedback is appreciated, especially good tips like that.

I would like to really get good at using photoshop as a form of colouring like Chase Stone. I found it almost impossible to believe that he had used photoshop to colour this. It's doing like an oil painting...amazing!

You can find his other work here...

Keep up the great work everybody! It's great stuff with lots of synergy here! My latest pet portrait...

The fact that a baby cheetah shooting gun hero, which I also think is a brilliant idea, is getting more comments than a piece that I slaved at for the past two weeks makes me want to work even harder on my next piece to impress you guys!! :-)

My patriotic theme superhero for the 4th!  Albeit, a day late...

I call him "the American Legionnare", incorporating some aspects of modern military uniforms with the lorica segmata armor once worn by Roman soldiers back in antiquity.  The shield is basically a Roman scutum shield emblazoned with the colors of the flag.

Blue pencil sketch on Bristol board, inked in with PITT and Micron markers.  I plan on filling the rest of the background in, and coloring this to place it on my DeviantART.com gallery.

Someday I shall come up with something as cool as a baby cheetah gun!

Thanks Wallace - Will do!
Here's the final version of "Carpenter's Hands." Spent several more hours on it, but there are probably just a few noticeable differences at this size.
