Joe's on a roll here!

I've been keeping busy this week myself.  The latest:

A panel from a little strip I've decided to throw together.  I've taken up something that I saw from the Frank Cho drawing panel back in September, and switched to softer (HB) graphite for my pencil work.  This is over a light blue pencil layout on smooth Bristol board.  The next phase of the project will be to ink it using my lightbox (it's the final experiment to see which medium works best with the equipment).

Two more from me.  Workbreak sketches.

I've gotten into a sort of Japanese/DC heroes swing here.

Work in progress.  I'm about halfway done on this one.  I'll post the finished pic when I'm done.

This is my first official commission piece, whereby the buyer specifically requested certain characters from old war-themed comic books from the 1940's. It was a lesson in US history. Before anybody comments on the character that sits atop the horse in the back, concerning his out-of-scale appearance, note that he's a ghost protecting the driver of the tank, so the scale of the drawing does not apply to him. (It's not an excuse - really - that's the way I wanted him to be).

Almost done.  Just some work to the face and straps and I should be finished.

Great stuff Craig. I like how Cap is turning out.

That's great news Sebastien. I'd like to try commisioned pieces too. A lot of research goes into something like that.

Joe, I am not sure what the creature is. But I see a significant improvement in the softening of your line work. I like the strong thick lines you usually use. But being able to soften the line work adds a level of depth to your work. Nice work!

Here's a commision I did for an older buddy of mine. He's doing his rendition of cruisin through the late 60's in Easy Rider!

Edit: Ooops...must have smoked one too many back in the 60's...here's the image! Hmmm,,,images won't upload?

Edit 2: Ok so it won't let me upload for some reason, so here's a link to the artwork. :)

Your Cap is just awesome, Craig.  You really did an amazing job on his shield.  You conveyed its shape (the curve of it, I mean....dang meds...I'm a little less articulate every day!) perfectly.  And the costume looks great.  I'm actually starting to warm up to the movie Cap costume...but don't tell the purists!  ;)

Thanks Dale, hope you manage to upload your pic so we can see it.

Tony, thanks again for the kind words.  It took me a while to figure out how to do the shield but once I figured it out it was actually pretty simple.
