Guys - a reminder that we have a no self-promotion policy on the forum, and it applies to this thread. I really love seeing the artwork you all put up here, but no links to purchases or info on commissions. They will be removed. Let's keep this to posting your art and discussions about the art.
Tim

Great, great job Sebastian!
What'd you finally use to ink those huge black areas?

Thanks Joe. I used a combination of cheap disposable brushes and some fancier, albeit hard-to-use, larger inking brushes made from horse hair and with bamboo handles. I was disappointed with the fancier brushes as some of the hairs would "stick out" and came close to running portions of the drawing as I inked along. I got them on sale for about $5.00 at Michael's (craft store in Canada) so it's not like I wasted that much money. I found the cheap disposable brushes to be just as good to spread the ink. One of the disadvantages of using "pure" ink to "black out" the borders was that it made the comic boards curl up along the edges. I might stick with large markers to do that in the future. It's a learning process. I might look into acquiring some large Pitt pens, as you suggested to me in that other thread. Where do you usually get them from?

You should most likely get them online, as it may be cheaper in bulk...
I believe I've seen the Big Brush Black at Micheal's, as well as A.C. Moore... however, they are in a pack of FOUR, the other three being a variance of WARM GREYS. Runs about $19.
I've beaten the $#!% out of the Big Brushes, and am at the point of refilling with ink I've used them so much. I find them pretty versatile. I have one I use ONLY for filling huge spots, and one I use for details.
Good luck to you! Your work is jumping at great leaps and bounds!
I travel fifteen minutes to a place in West Hartford, CT named JERRY'S ARTARAMA. I also travel about 45 minutes to a place in Northampton, MA to a place called THE ARTIST'S GUILD.

I've gone to at least one Michael's outlet in my area, but I also go to a local store called Finley's Art Shoppe which is just a 15-minute drive away on the other side of the big college town near my home. If I want to go further, I also stop by Upper Merion Repro Center in Ardmore, PA, or a similar place in downtown Lancaster, PA. One thing I may suggest with the border inking is to actually tape your paper down on a rigid surface on all sides, and let it dry overnight. The method works for watercolor painting, and has allowed me to produce some work without the telltale warping that usually happens if it wasn't thus restrained. I could work just as well for India inks, which are a water-based medium.

This is an Acrylic painting of Knuckles. I took this with my iPhone, the original looks much better.
I would give some advice on acrylics but I am new to them myself so I really do not know anything.

A couple more that I've been able to jot down during the previous couple of weeks. Things have been kind of slow and start-and-stop for me (mostly due to job hunting). However, I did put the pencils to work.
I really love these softer grade pencils...
