I love those suits. Feels like the Silver Age Green Lantern in terms of clean, smart lines.•• Gil Kane was one of the best costume designers in the Biz. Unlike so many current artists, he understood that form and function should merge, and his designs almost always followed the natural contours of the body, This was something that struck me immediately, looking at the costume design in the BIRDMAN movie threat. The suit looks bulky, cumbersome, heavy, and is, of course, festooned with superflous detail and gewgaws. Other than the big wings on the back, there is nothing about it that says "flying character".
