In a couple of days this thread should yield a new commission piece. Meanwhile. . . .

The master at work. Looks like it's going to be a big one. I like your pet Triceratops holding your pages in place!

Fantastic!

I smile when I think of my childhood perceptions. I imagined a factory-style environment with writers in one corner - and artists in another, all "punching a time clock" to get the book out. I had no idea of the working environment.

Looking forward to the commission, anyway.

I imagined a factory-style environment…

••

Sort of like this?

That's what I used to imagine, too!!

Looks good. Is that a giant preliminary Hulk in the foreground?

Yes, Mr Byrne, something exactly like that!

EDIT: I cannot help but think there's an interesting book to be written (hint, hint) about the creative process of getting a book out. I think, even today, I take things like word balloons and colouring for granted. Lots of work goes into getting that book on my shelf!

What is the origin of your chair? Looks like it started off in an airplane?

The ejector seat work chair ALONE is marvelous.

For sure I'd fail to be productive for very long in that room.

"So busy...gotta get on this deadli...OOOOHHH...look over there!"

3 hours later....

"Ok! Focus!  Deadli....WOW!  I forgot I had that!"

Taking a model plane survey....

P-51 Mustang?

TBF Avenger? ( I LOVE the gun turret on the Avenger!)

ME 262?

FA-18 Hornet (Or Super Hornet?)

Is that an F-86 Sabre just off the right side kinda cut off (red nose showing?)

I MISS scale modeling so much.  1/18th scale military jets and WW2 warbirds were my wheelhouse.

That room makes me smile like a fat kid in a candy factory.

Thx for sharing.

A shot of a lovely P-51 I took at this year's Selfridge ANGB Open House
