"A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State..."
Seems to be the most ignored piece of 'holy writ' next to "Thou shalt not kill." You'd think that part of the sentence in the amendment was never there and not there now. Regulation is bad when it's a responsibility you don't want to bear, but great when you want to prevent a 13 year old incest rape victim from doing the sane thing for a pregnancy that will produce a child severely handicapped or even not viable to actually live for long anyway (and meanwhile do everything to keep birth control and planning help out of the reach of those most in need of it). The blonde blue-eyed immaculate conception Jesus they made up that you just have to magically believe in (as opposed to you know, Acts, of good faith and charity, a major book of the 'Bible') is all the reason they seem to need while praying in public (another very specific 'thou shalt not').
The Red Dawn makers didn't foresee terror coming from within as much as from the foreigner without, and many U.S. politicians were openly admiring ex-KGB Putin as 'strong' long before Trump became their guy.
I know the right used to love to bring up Switzerland a lot, a western nation with a high percentage of firearms around, but how does the U.S. currently compare to the Swiss model of gun availability, security and training? Was anyone really trying for that? They'd probably denounce Switzerland as socialist-fascism or something and never want to live in anything like it.
I love that guy too. I'm glad he challenged Abbott directly during a press conference. Abbott is an accessory to murder and ought to be regarded as such.
Unless we vote out right wing politicians who are in thrall to the gunfuckers, we aren't going to fix this problem. They will ALWAYS stand in the way of even the most sensible reforms.
'Before coming out here we had a long discussion with the law enforcement at all levels. I asked the sheriff and others an open ended question I got the same answer from the sheriff as well as from the mayor, "what is the problem here?"
'They were straight forward and emphatic. They said we have a problem with mental health illness in this community. Then they elaborated on the magnitude of the mental health challenges they are facing and the need for more mental health support in this region."
There you have it. They have got to the root of the problem. Not a gun problem and no need to change anything there. A mental health problem. And they got to the answer so quickly! These guys must be smart as a whip.*
“According to NRA, the Secret Service is taking control of the hall during Trump's speech and is prohibiting attendees from having firearms, firearms accessories & knives." LINK
"Ammunition, laser pointers, pepper spray, toy guns, backpacks etc won’t be allowed”.
The message I see - a 75 year old ex-president gets more protection than our children.
I was hanging in there in withstanding the usual barrage of BS until they started talking about the supposed new mental health crisis. Show me one iota of movement of doing something about that if you truly believe that is the cause of all these massacres.
I've lost what little sympathy I had for "responsible" gun owners years ago.
My feeling is these "bad actors" have ruined gun ownership for everyone...treat them like they would in military basic training...one person screws up, the whole squad gets the consequences.
