I just asked at least 3 Right Wing “types” on FB who feel the problem isn’t guns…its our mental health issues.

So I asked them when the next time Bernie Sanders or AOC stand before you and asks for your support for Medicare for all and Universal Healthcare…so mental health services can be made WIDELY and EASILY available to the populace, we can expect their support and votes.

Each dismissed Bernie and AOC as “socialists commies” and scoffed about the very effectiveness of widespread healthcare initiatives.

So there ya go.   It’s the crazy people…but they gotta fix themselves.

Is Steve Kerr right? Do 90% of Americans want extra controls over gun ownership? If so, why aren't you doing something about it?

The Republicans, in general, are greedy and against anything that costs them money, even if its to help other people. When they say they're against "Big Government", they mean social programs. Because you should have to work until you die, and if you can't afford to pay for health insurance, then tough luck, just go ahead and suffer. Basically, its not their problem, until it is their problem.

My wife and stepson were in a wreck a couple of years ago. My stepson was driving, and it was the other driver's fault; they drove into my stepson's care and claimed they didn't see the car, which was bright red. My stepson and wife both had to have treatments for hand (him) and shoulder (her) injuries, and the car was totaled because part of the frame was twisted.

They ended up with about $2,000 total, after the car was paid off and their treatments partially covered. That's it. Because the lawyer told them that due to this being a mainly Republican area, suing would be a waste of time because Republicans care more about their car insurance rates possibly going up if they award more money than someone being properly compensated. If they were in the western part of the state, it'd have been game on.

My stepson's car that was totalled was a sports car. Now he drives a pretty crappy Nissan Altima that's 4 years older than the car that got destroyed.

Brain -- it sounds like your step son was given some pretty poor advice.

The best place to start is look at who is taking NRA "donations". Trump, who speaks at the convention this weekend (no guns allowed for his "speech") took over $30M for his 2016 run. Romney tops the current batch at over $13M. Here are other names.

Money and power more important than life, even their own children and grandchildren.

The sad thing is this, in about 2-3 weeks, this tragedy will be buried and we all will go about our business of the next day.

Nothing will be solved.

Until the next eye catching mass shooting will happen....

Wash .... Rinse..... Repeat.....

A “normal” gun can be used to wound and potentially kill six people. That fits the bill for a mass shooting by FBI definition.

In theory, the shooter has to be a pretty good marksman though.

But with a weapon like an AR-15 any teenager with mental problems can kill 20+ easily (even the police ran away from him!).

There is absolutely no reason for weapons like that to be in civilian hands. Even the most fanatic NRA-head would have to concede that.

Then they elaborated on the magnitude of the mental health challenges they are facing”

I wonder if the “magnitude and challenges” described to Governor Dingbat included the fact that the individuals with mental health issues are armed?

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) just threatened President Biden for calling for commonsense gun reform in the wake of 19 slaughtered schoolchildren: “Try to take our guns and you’ll learn why the Second Amendment was written in the first place.”

WHY is this type of behavior accepted from our ELECTED officials??

INSANITY.

 QUOTE:
Beto O’Rourke just told off Abbott at his national TV press conference in Uvalde. "You are doing nothing... this is on you!" Beto said.

Beto O’Rourke is one of the good ones. He’s passionate about this. Absolutely amazing.

It's great that he's passionate about the issue, but this kind of stunt is not likely to help him get elected.  It excites the people who were already going to vote for him (and people in other states who can't vote for him), but I don't think it's going to persuade the moderates in Texas whose support he needs to win.  To the contrary, it may have the opposite effect, as it makes it easier for Abbott to portray him as a loose-cannon fanatic.  Say what you will about Republicans, but they never lose sight of the fact that winning the election is the most important thing.
