I usually mention that coal miners are one group I can understand why they'd vote for Trump; few, and nobody truthful, would promise more coal mining jobs than ever before in this day and age.

It seems the biggest hole I. The “I declassified everything” defence is document #19 for the indictment. That document could only be declassified by the department of energy, not the President. This, the espionage act is involved because he disseminated government secrets. This case isn’t about the Presidential Records Act.

"This case isn’t about the Presidential Records Act."

It shouldn't be, but his defense team will throw that out there, among other things.  If they can convince one juror, then he won't be convicted.

Are we expecting a fair trial or not??

The Orange One has done a new interview with Foxnews where the interviewer asked him why he didn’t return the classified files when asked by the Feds.  Trump answered that the files were mixed in with his private stuff in those boxes.  He didn’t want the Feds going through his personal stuff, and he had not found the time to go through the boxes yet when DOJ raided Mara Lago.

Every lawyer in America will have their jaw drop when they hear this interview.   This interview is admissible evidence.  Trump has admitted he understood the request to return classified materials but willfully decided not to make the time to even sort through those files.  Unbelievable.

Yet another example of Trumf’s inability to recognize his own wrongdoings.

"Are we expecting a fair trial or not??"

Yes.  But unless its discovered that a jury member committed misconduct warranting a mistrial, the court and the attorneys have no control over the verdict.  And there are Trump supporters everywhere.  As JB mentioned higher up in this thread, he encounters many in the area where he lives, even though Biden won 65% of the vote in that county.  I imagine there is an even greater chance that he would have supporters in a jury pool in Florida; and he only needs one.

Have you never served jury duty? Whenever I have, fellow jurors formed opinions based on reasons other than facts in evidence. We managed to talk them through it as part of the deliberation process, but all it takes is one intransigent person to deadlock a criminal jury.

The Fox News interview last night shows why lawyers representing this idiot do everything they can to keep him from testifying in court.

After that interview, Trump’s lawyers were the ones throwing ketchup at the wall.

********

The few times I have served, it's been fairly simple to draw a conclusion with the facts given to us. Nothing controversial. NO jurors forming opinions based on reasons other than facts.

T’won’t make any difference. Trumf is a monolithic entity who has convinced nearly half the country that any negative reports about him are Fake News. AND he’s convinced a lot of people that lethal action on his behalf is not only acceptable, but laudable.
