Similar to the “Favorite John Byrne Character” thread, what are some characters that, once JB got ahold of them, he made them a favorite? Also similar to that thread I’m interested in what JB would have to say.

I often say Wolverine is my fault. :-)

Superman. And that's coming from a life-long Superman

Wolverine was a character that I always liked, but he flourished under JB.

Originally, I wasn't too enamoured with She-Hulk, but I took to her when she joined the FF (and really liked her after issue 284, which is forever locked in my brain).
I'd say the same about the Stern/Byrne Captain America run, which took a character that wasn't a favourite and made him essential reading for an all too brief time!.

She-Hulk for me.  It's not like I didn't like her, it's just I really didn't care much for her. Once JB had her join the FF and then with her own book, I enjoyed the heck out of her.

 Heck, without JB's efforts, I never would've given the She-Hulk show a chance. |

She-Hulk absolutely. I tried out her first run when it came out but it just didn't grab me. Flash forward about 40 years later and trying to pick up all the JB stuff I missed during that time when I see he had a run on She-Hulk, She-Hulk?! Got it, mind blown!

Number One- From practically just a few lines originally to creating a full fun backstory. JB just ran with it.
Hank McCoy- After I read XMHY that's how I think of him.
Invisible Woman- No disrespect to the original creators, but she just went to the next level. |

I didn't really connect with him until JB's run.

Superman for me, too. JB's take was my introduction to the comic book version of Superman. I'd previously only known him through TV and movies.

My favorite take on Superman. And certainly a lasting impact on Luthor.

The Luthor of the reboot started with Marv Wolfman, so I guess what I did could be called an extrapolation of an extrapolation.
