Remember when Iron Man briefly—tho not briefly enough—started sporting a nose on his formerly smooth face/mask? As the story goes, one day Stan was looking at the latest issue of Shellhead’s book and posed the question, “Shouldn’t he have a nose?”Now, as was later figured out, what he meant was that the artist was drawing the mask too flat, so in profile there didn’t appear to be any room for a nose. But that was later. At the time the Iron Man editor obediently (he thought) ordered a nose added to the helmet. Well, for no particular reason I was just googling my way thru different artists interpretations of Spider-Man, and found some of them, aping Todd McFarlane, drawing mask virtually concave! Never mind having a nose, he looked like the whole center of his face had been pushed in. Artistic license is one thing, but come on, guys!!
