Even some I was not aware of!...


I was checking out "Jurassic Park: The Devils in The Desert" on Amazon, and saw this bio for "Byrne":

After 9/11/01, I used this skill to research and investigate Islam and Muslim history while intentionally avoiding academia compromised by Muslim petro-dollars. The things one can still learn about one' favorite artist!!

Naturally, I'm being facetious about the "learning new things" part. I imagine it's pretty annoying to see this sort of thing happen to you. I know we've seen other instances, especially with people online conflating our JB with the Irish painter of note. 

I have actually been a victim of this, too! IMDB credited me for producing some films in England on the entry for "With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story" (on which I had some research input and such). The birthdate given was mine, but my bio was getting mixed up with another fellow of the same name there.

Edit: Just checked... I apparently have made some more TV projects since I first noticed the credit. LOL! Also, my credit was altered to "comics provided by...", which is only part of what I did. Sigh.

Ha! Yes. I saw this a while back and my first thought was to fix it. Then I grew amused.

My favorite is still the IMDb credit for contributing art to a couple of movies I had not heard of. Years later I learned they were Tilda Swinton projects.

I am still struck by the coincidence of John Byrne being the head writer for Season One of Space:1999, one of the first books you drew!

Two people named John Byrne, working in completely different creative
fields, yet connected to the same IP.

A few years ago, I got an email from a user of academia.edu, asking if I was the "T. Downum" cited in a paper called "Sustainable Small-Scale Agriculture in Semi-Arid Environments." I was not.

I have a namesake who's a filmmaker and was even nominated for an Oscar once (the film is ELLING). It caused quite a ruckus among American friends, who know I'm a writer and seriously wondered if I had been holding out on them!

But my name is not that uncommon here, I also share it with a composer and the father of Elliott "Untouchable" Ness!

I was contacted on FB once by somebody who said he wanted to interview me about the first Terminator movie.  Well sure, I’m a sci Fi fan, but why would you want my input?  Turns out someone with my name was a stuntman on that picture.
