The whole Canada Post is extremely complicated. CP is currently lead by the president of Purolator which supposed to be a division of CP. Purolator has been siphoning billions of dollars out of CP for "improvements" to make them more competitive with Amazon.

As noted earlier, it is also spectacularly top heavy. The goal is to break the union and abandon Canada Post which problematic for rural and northern Canada and also a matter of national defense. CP is currently the only cost effective to service those areas and maintain communications with areas that have limited or no internet or cell service.

Going from $2 to $20 to send a small parcel will end Purolator as well so this is all spectacularly short sighted which I am not surprised by given the who the current Prime Minister is.He only apparently sees value in profit motive. I was hoping he would be a war time Prime Minister and use the spending power of the government to massively invest in growth areas in Canada and instead he is playing the Conservative playbook.
