A tremendous contributor to science. 
But by many accounts, not a very pleasant man.

A former student of mine got to meet him just within the last couple years. I
liked having that little connection with one of the most famous scientists of
modern times.

That Crick and Watson deliberately avoided any real acknowledgement of the immeasurable contribution of Rosalind Franklin greatly diminishes them in my eyes. Her work created the foundation on which theirs was built, but she died before their discoveries were made public. The Nobel committee even snubbed her as they do not award their prize posthumously.

It’s one of the great crimes of science.
