In trying to round out an Amazon (ugh) order, I decided to look for JB Omnibuses (there's a word that will never not look and sound awkward to my eyes and ears) that I do not yet have. "Aha", I say - the Spider-Man by John Byrne Omnibus. Then I noted the price - $1,815 CAD. Soooo yeah, that's out of print, and needs to be re-released. I know we talked about OMAC down below, but is there another one you're waiting for in particular?

Geez, you're not kidding. Some of those prices seem really arbitrary.

I'm constantly fascinated by stuff like that, Ed. I desperately (ok, maybe a bit of hyperbole there) want to know exactly how that person arrived at that specific number.

Arbitrary doesn't even cover it; back in 2008, I bought then promptly lost (ie, lent and forgot) The Wolverton Bible. A couple of years later, I thought I'd rebuy it, but Fantagraphics didn't do a second print and the used prices were in the hundreds of dollars - I can't really exactly how high it went but in my memory it was around $900! I dug it but there's no book on Earth that I dig enough to lay out that kind of money.
Looking today, it's back down to a highly reasonable $70. So pretty clearly the rule is that people will charge whatever it is they think they can get. Not exactly the invisible hand but the hairy drunken clutch of the market.

I suppose BLOOD OF THE DEMON. And if we’re really dreaming, OMAC.

OMAC is definitely near the top of my list. Fortunately, I have The Demon from when it was readily available!
EDIT: Boy is my face red! It's Kirby's own Demon omnibus I have upstairs!!! Carry on, nothing to see here :P

I collect first editions of contemporary books (well, going back to around the last hundred years) and often I'll see an item that has five offerings and four will hover around the same price, say $150, and there'll be a fifth that's asking like $5,000. Do they WANT to sell it?
It's like it's offered by the fifth out of five dentists who wouldn't recommend sugarless gum to their patients who chew gum.

Namor and She-Hulk Omnibuses top my list.
I wish they’d do OMAC and BOTD. Hell, combine it with his Fourth World work and make a “Byrne does Kirby characters” collection with it.

I wouldn't mind if they reprinted the original She-Hulk GN as a standalone. The Omnibus was too pricey for me to buy just for that (and is now WAY too pricey).
