Is Batman a better fighter than the Black Panther?
I wish we could've seen such a crossover between these two.

A friend once described Batman as "second best AT EVERYTHING". In other words, there are probably better athletes, better fighters, people who are stronger, faster, etc. But Batman does it ALL.So the question of Batman versus pretty much anyone comes down to the skill level of his opponent. This is why, in BATMAN AND CAPTAIN AMERICA, I arranged for their obligatory tussle to be between Bruce Wayne and Steve Rogers, so neither would go into it with any assumptions about the other. (And, yes, I did just dodge your question!)

Yes, JB, you did just dodge my question. I just wanted to know your opinion.
Also, didn't Batman train himself to the peak of human perfection? as stated in countless bios and stories. How do you explain away with that?

There’s nothing to “explain away”. Batman has trained and conditioned his body to the peak attainable by Bruce Wayne. Doesn’t mean someone else couldn’t be better!

So by that logic, someone else could be better than Steve Rogers, too?

I would've thought Captain America was more the quintessential peak human specimen, e.g., if he entered the Olympics he'd not only win every Gold but likely break every record.

Michael, going by what JB just said, Steve would be peak for Steve, alone. There would be guys more peak than Steve if they took the serum. Like if Kingpin or Crossbones took the serum, they would be way stronger than Steve. Everybody has a different peak that can be attainable through physical conditioning or the serum.

The super soldier serum is described as taking Steve to the PEAK. Not his personal peak, but the absolute extreme to which a human can be taken. To use an analogy, when Hal Jordan charges his ring the power last for 24 hours (undiminished). If he charges it and then immediately a it again, he will not double the power. So, with Captain America, it’s all about where the treatment ends, not where it starts.

So Steve's peak is the PEAK, while Bruce's attained peak is just Bruce's personal peak?

So that "slight edge" in "Batman & Captain America" didn't just refer to Steve's skill level, it referred to Cap's serum-enhanced physical attributes, as well?
