Just came across this - not sure it's been addressed here - DC is going to print Adams' Batman in an oversized Absolute Edition.  The best part: the colors have been reverted back to the original color (no digital shading or modern coloring) on non-glossy paper. LINK

-C!

I happily find myself in sync with JB on this. I'm really looking forward to this book. Will certainly be picking up a copy, later this year!

Pleased to see this includes his BRAVE AND BOLD and WORLD’S FINEST work.

Tho I am sure those pages will come as a surprise to those familiar only with his later style.

What a great thing to release!

The first Batman comicbook I'd had possession of was the debut of Poison Ivy, and early Neal Adams is pretty much on-model with that version.

Even more importantly, they've reverted to the original art.  Adams did a substantial amount of redrawing for the reprints in the 2000s, and it was (in my opinion) not an improvement.  Adams' style had also changed notably, so the redrawing was extremely conspicuous, regardless of what one thinks of its quality.

I for one was not happy when Neal started redrawing.

I don't get many absolute editions because of the price (and it's usually material I already have in some other format) but I agree that this is a must-have!

I have all the materials included, in their original form, but I would pick this up for convenience.

I wonder how they’re going to handle the “restored” colors. The original line screen would be pretty gaudy in an enlarged format. Bordering on Lichtenstein. Yet many of those old colors depend on the paper color showing thru. Caucasian flesh, for instance.

(Of course there’s going to be plenty of fanboys complaining if the art isn’t airbrushed within an inch of its life!)

I carried my copy of the Artist’s Edition around for 2 weeks in my car to
brag. Also be happy to own this!
