Insofar as I can put myself back in the mindset of a kid perusing a spinner rack, I would confirm that most of those would have caught my attention! (Maybe not the purple background, but I will give Mr. Infantino the benefit of the doubt on that one.)

Bizarre bit of drift after musing on this topic: I started thinking about what if an eighth rule was a cheap cover price, and then I started thinking about how much I was willing to pay for a premium item back in the day, and wondering what that would look like if adjusted for inflation.

And I thought back to my trade paperback of The Dark Knight Returns, which cost me £9.95 back in 1990. So I went the BoE's inflation calculator, intending to put in 10 quid with 1990 as the year... and the pre-filled values were 10 quid and 1990. Eerie!

Some big ones for me way-back-when was guest-stars from other books... I loved seeing Spider-Man in someone else's book; or a guest appearance from the Hulk was always a plus for me.  Or the title character fighting an evil twin or doppelganger on the cover.

Or any cover appearance by Dr. Doom!
