I’ve come across early drawings of your Vision redesign online and one of
them lists the colors you intended. Of course there are many examples of
colored versions of these drawings, as well. I liked them but nowhere near
as much as the totally white version you ended up going with. My questions
are, what made you change your mind about the colors and what made you
go with white?

Colors were presented as an option to the editor, mostly to show they didn’t really work.

White was my only real choice.

(After the explosion of outrage from fans when I made the change, it was amusing to see the white Vision play such a prominent role in WANDAVISION.)

Found this online, colored by Matt Wilson:

Have to admit, it took me years into my comics reading to click that the Vision had red skin. Just....didn't see it.

I was introduced to the Vision thru back issues after my return to comic reading. The scene in which the Wasp first sees him emerge from a wall (some panels obviously redrawn by Marie Severin— I know not why) was very odd. Jan sees this clown colored figure and declares him a “vision”??

Worked perfectly. I remember seeing that first panel with him. It was one of
those “what? How could they? But it looks so cool!!” moments. One of the
best redesigns ever.

It’s great they gave him green trunks.

There are times when I feel blessed that my formative comic reading years
were in black and white.
I got the odd colour comic when really young - American comics from the
seaside, and treasury editions. But pretty much until I turned around 11 or
12, I only had a small collection of colour comics.
I knew colours of costumes from covers and that small collection, but I had
never seen a panel such as the one above.
Even now, I come across panels where the colour hits me and I find myself
pausing to just realise I have not seen it previously in colour.
