Is anyone actively trying to reduce their collection footprint?
I am the only person in my family with interest in what I have amassed. Except some special things my children want as keepsakes, the majority will be orphaned once I am gone. I am separating and identifying the more valuable items.
What are you doing?

This really is a golden age of being “grown up” with too much money and arguably just enough space. ----------------- It is and it isn't. Let's not forget that we are getting older and have been amassing this stuff for decades. there is no way I could afford to replace my Star wars and comic collections from scratch. It is only that I have things from when I was a nipper that I have the collections I have.
------- What are you doing? -------
My son is def not into my collections - he doesn't read comics, nor does he collect figures. So I'm not really sure what will happen after I die. What is interesting is that I have recently discovered that he has a poor knowledge of narrative - because he has not read a tonne of books, nor has he been interested in watching movies/TV until recently, he has no 'bank' of narrative construct. Yes he has learned English Lit, but he doesn't recognise things we would take for granted.
So I am putting together a reading list for him of books and comics, but I'm unsure if he will follow through. He's far more interested in music and computing. if he does follow through, he may become more interested in the collections.
We shall see.

My daughter has expressed that she has no interest in my collection, so I'm looking to get her the value from it to fund the hobbies and travel she loves. My favorite way to buy comics now is through Instragram live sales. There are a few sellers who regularly have collection liquidation sales for deceased individuals. I'll either try to negotiate a sale through one of the younger sellers prior to my demise or leave instructions in my estate planning on how best to liquidate the collection. But yeah, the goal is to make it relatively painless to liquidate while at the same time maximizing the sale value.

Steve - Enjoying what I have. Parted this past summer with boxes of comics of less importance or of no particular nostalgia ( still hurt a little watch them leave). No children, so like you my things will be orphaned when I'm gone. I won't worry about it then, but hope they find a home other than the heap.

Fortunately, when I’m gone I won’t care what happens to my stuff!

Well… a few years ago I got myself a label maker, and went around putting people’s names on various items. Kind of a “living will” if you will. The artwork is pretty much all assigned.
