Since he's been in the US Senate...has he gone against party leadership?

Big nope there.

Dude - an office he was in for two years - two years that the Republicans spectacularly self-destructed - Bush holds the lowest approval rating of any American President - 80% of Americans think the nation is headed in the wrong direction.

You want Obama to side with that?

Dude - you're a smart enough guy (well, you're a David Lynch fan - you must be smart) - I get it if you're beliefs are conservative and he wasn't your guy, but don't sully your beliefs by spreading untruths based on talking points.

Still so far he seems to have won with only 52% of the popular vote (yes I grant that his electoral votes can be considered a landslide, though). Like I said earlier, don't get too cocky, Dems. Bush and many other Reps made enough mistakes the past few years that caused a lot of red-staters to switch sides. Make enough mistakes the next 4 years and they will switch back again. Let's all of us hope that he will not be another Jimmy Carter (nice guy and well-intentioned, but way in over his head).

McCain gave an incredibely gracious speech. I was impressed.

And Obama knocked it out of the park! I was stunned (in a good way) by it's magnitude, it's seriousness and it's historicism.

Wow.

Just wow.

I'm really proud of US right now.

Tonight, McCain showed the best side of himself. A high-class exit and a
moving speech.

I hope we never have to see or hear Sarah Palin again, but I suspect that's
too much to hope for.

Obama has a long and difficult road ahead of him. I suspect the
Republicans will go after him with more fervor than they ever did with Bill
Clinton, and they will be a constant impediment to him and his policies.
He will have to do an inhumanly spectacular job to be more than a one-
termer. But I wish him all the best.

If he succeeds, we all do.

"Knut, you do realize that song is from a movie that is still deemed racist don't you? "

Yup. But it's still a great song, and the song isn't racist. (I like the movie, too, even though I can understand why it's considered racist. ) I hope no-one was offended, because that was not my intent.

Congratulations! Obama!

Jeff, you beat me to it. I think that Knut's choice of song was unintentional, but funny.
********

The song is also "sung" by Donald Duck in a Donald Duck short I had on super-8 and appears also in full on the album Disco Mickey Mouse that was translated and released in Scandinavia.

I sense a lot more hope in the air than cockiness, Vinny.

Thank you Mike O'Brien.

Jozef, one might add, rather than posing the question TO President-elect Obama, how about asking the question of yourself and your party. How willing are you to reach across the aisle and work WITH Democrats to get something done?

I've never believed that any one ideology should get its own way. And yet we've lived through a Karl Rove era where governing is exactly that.
Reaching across the aisle works both ways.

Care to mention any reaching you'd be willing to do?

Not willing to make any conciliations on anything for Democrats? If you can't, then you can't fault a man for doing as you do. (Well, you can but that would make you a...)

---

Not that they are listening to me anyway, but by "Dems", I meant "Democrat politicians", not you guys. The Repbulicans got cocky and I'm sure that played a big role in what happened tonight.
