Mike,
Really? You would have voted for the McCain of 2000? The anti-choice, anti-gay rights (even voting against including sexual orientation as a category in a damn hate-crimes bill), anti-marriage equality, pro-gun, pro Robert Bork, pro Clarence Thomas, Keating Five'r John McCain?

Thanks Jodi. One of the things I truly love about America is that every 4 years we have the chance to totally change (or nearly change) our governmental leadership and it's done with a lot of passion on all sides, but very little violence. That is something I wish a lot of the world will recognize as one of our greatest strengths.
We may not always agree on the roads to get there, but we all want to get to a better place.

Just got back from the Obama event. An amazing experience. All walks of life, everyone getting along. A sea of people like I have never seen, and I have seen many a big event in Chicago. Regardless of political leanings, it was an event where you could feel the historic magnitude.

Obama is the first president in 20 years to get above 51% of the popular vote.
Bush in 2004 - 50.7% Bush in 2000 - 47.9% Clinton in 1996 - 49.2% Clinton in 1992 - 43% Bush in 1988 - 53.4% Reagan in 1984 - 58.8% Reagan in 1980 - 50.8%

Knut, I for one wasn't offended. It takes a lot to offend me. Like Neil said, it just struck me as funny that you chose that song that's so closely identified with "The Song Of The South". I too wish Disney would finally rerelease it here in the US, even if they have to bookend the movie with disclaimers and interviews with historians. It was a period peice, so present it that way. Ignoring history is never a good thing.

Wow Chris, I've never looked up those stats before. It's kinda strange to see that GHW Bush had such a high percent and only lasted one term.

Was wondering if Mr. Simko was able to make it down there. Looked pretty impressive on television, amazing to see so many people moved like that. Now the hard part starts.

I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the event, and get into the staging area, which was impressive enough. When I left the event and saw the sea of people outside that area, it was something else.
I agree, though...now time to walk the walk.
