Well, that's at least four years' job security for Fred Armisen...

But, seriously, how long before we start hearing from the same malcontents who, after Vanessa Williams won her short-lived crown, grumbled "not black enough"?

Well, the American people have spoken. The election didn't go the way I had hoped, but that's the way it works sometimes.

From here, I hope everyone will rally around President Obama. He deserves our support and respect (as does any president), particularly as the Commander-in-Chief during a time of war. Doesn't mean I'll agree with all his decisions, but he should have our respect and support.

I truly hope he is successful and that the next four years are times of peace and prosperity.

Hopefully, he can improve on his Obama impression, as it's currently not very good, in my opinion.

Were any other state as close as Indiana?  48.9% Obama to 48% McCain

First time I've ever voted for a Democratic President.

Will outgoing republicans working for Bush do anything as douche-baggy as some of the democrats did?  Hopefully all will leave with some class.

I agree, that is one of the weakest Presidential impressions I've ever seen on SNL. Well... Chevy Chase as Ford wasn't a "good" impression. At least that was funny.

Yeah, but now what are Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Sharpton gonna do...start pretending to defend downtrodden white people?

Very true, Albert. One unquestionably good thing about Obama is that he represents an end to the fear-mongering, racially divisive politics of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Obama's message of "Yes, we can" stands in sharp contrast to Jackson and Sharpton, who have always harped on, "No, you can't." While I don't like a lot of Obama's politics, I greatly admire his positive, hopeful attitude. As Reagan and FDR proved, that type of optimistic leadership really does matter during hard times.

Craig, North Carolina was equally close - in fact, it's still technically in the "undecided" column.

However, with 100% of precincts reporting, Obama has 12,000 more votes than McCain. It's a moot point now, but barring some miracle, Obama will be the first Democratic presidential candidate to carry North Carolina since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

So CNN has a vote breakdown by age. Not surprising that the younger votes went more to Obama over McCain, but where are the states of the vote demographic based on race?

Unfortunately, it does look like the anti-marriage equality Prop. 8 will pass.  The only caveat to that is that there are still 5% of the precincts and about 2 MILLION absentee ballots (mine among them) that are yet to be counted.  However there are currently 4+ percentage points separating the YES from NO votes (advantage: YES) and a turnaround from that kind of spread, although it does happen -- and in fact I remember it happening only a couple of years ago on an unrelated proposition -- it is rare.  Certainly NOT something I would get my hopes up over.

I have to say it was very, very difficult going to bed feeling great about our new president, yet feeling oddly like I am not really part of the American family.
