Hey Jodi, you live in Indiana, anywhere near Terre-Haute? I almost moved there in 2005 to work for ThyssenKrupp ( last year I almost moved to Urbana-Champaign, but that's Illinois).
I live in a small town called Yorktown, outside of Muncie Indiana, Terre Haute is on the western side of the state and a little south, we are on the eastern side a little north. We are about an hour and a half away. If you ever get to Indiana look me up, I'll show you all the exciting things in Yorktown, which will take about five minutes but then we can go for a long lunch.

Which is exactly what happened here in NC with little known state rep Kay Hagan defeating Elizabeth Dole.

So Jeff is wrong in this case. Dole outspent Hagan by a wide margin and received more out-of-state funding than her opponent. The analogy between this race and Prop 8 here in California is not a valid one. Most of the money in support of the proposition came from out-of-state.

I'm hoping for nothing but the best from my new President-elect. I'm almost certainly going to oppose many of his policy proposals, but that's unavoidable and, frankly, as it should be.
"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place
where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our
founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our
democracy, tonight is your answer..."
Almost perfect.

Let's face it - the Republicans handed this election to the Democrats. McCain shot himself in both feet clear up to the pelvis by choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate; may she now fade swiftly back into the obscurity from which she equally-swiftly sprang.
But much of the blame goes back to Bush's taint -- from Clinton to Bush, we went from a Rhodes scholar to a road apple. I've never been so disappointed in a Republican presi--well, there was Nixon...

Ralph Nader showing what an idiot he is.
“To put it very simply, he is our first African American president; or he will be. And we wish him well. But his choice, basically, is whether he’s going to be Uncle Sam for the people of this country, or Uncle Tom for the giant corporations.”

You didn't upset, Marcio. I was simply curious as to why you would quote a line to Marcel from a post not remarking on anything like waiting in line...from either Marcel or myself.

Which reminds me why third party candidates are not a good idea - the winner gets less 50% of the total vote. Hard to have a mandate when over half of the voting population is against you.

I was pleasantly surprised by Obama's win last night. I still can't believe Dole lost. There may be hope for NC yet...

Although I opposed him every step of the way -- and have not changed my opinion for that opposition at all -- I have no doubt that Obama was, by far, the superior choice in this election. I don't share the euphoria of Obama's supporters, but I can certainly join in the collective relief that the Bush regime is finally coming to an end.

I am just curious... and not trying to be snarky... but why would you oppose the superior choice?
