Speak for yourself.  I didn't. Most of the people I know didn't because they aren't so partisan that they'd lay all the blame on a single man or administration. That said, a lot of it was.  You can't really dispute that, can you?  A Republican Administration that spent more than most Democrat administrations even taking out the cost of fighting two wars.  Much of the blame begins there and is compounded by general feelings of the Bush Administration overall.

And if people don't see it quickly, they won't believe it.  Remember, it's a "what have you done for me lately" world.  If, after 4 years, things are still bad, people will be looking for new change that they can believe in.  That's just human nature.

That's your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it.  Me, I think the American people are smart enough to know that it took over a decade to get into the mess we are in now, so no matter who sits in office they won't be able to change it in the blink of an eye.  No use debating this one, though, as we won't be able to see whether your opinion of the American population or mine is more accurate. The only thing I can hope is that people, specifically those in this thread, give Obama and his administration time and not cry to the high heavens in six months that they aren't richer and better off than they were right now.  Time, people.  This is going to take time.

Now that's RUDE!!!

In Moscow, Berlusconi describes Obama as 'young, handsome and well tanned'

Scott you have a valid point here...but, I would change it to read...If things are still the same.  I don't think people really believe that he is going to wave a magic wand and everyone will get their own magical unicorn that farts pixie dust.

Believe it or not, some people do.  On a local radio station, prior to the election a woman called in and said she was voting for Obama because she wouldn't have to worry about paying her mortgage and utilities because soon Obama would be doing it for her.  There are a ton of uneducated people out there that think Obama is going to give them magic money trees.

From my own experience, even "educated people" can believe in magic
money trees.

That's a counterfeit money tree, Matt.  A real magic money tree needs a bigger pot.

The United States federal government plucking $700 billion out of thin air sure looked like a magical money tree to me. I guess the fable of The Ant And The Grasshopper will have to be rewritten, so that after the Grasshopper squanders his belongings selfishly, the hardworking, practical Ant has to "loan" him enough to get by. And the moral of the story will be that your behavior has no consequences that you have to worry about whatsoever, because someone else will always be required to fix your mistakes.

Wayde, I am not sure if saw or heard about the Zeitgeist Addendum
It has a lot of crap, but the part about the financial world and how the system works is not completely inacurate, apart of the exagerations and the conspiracy theories, there are some facts in there that makes think about how money is created in US.

The "gold standard" is long gone, but, I am not sure how many people really understands what it means.

If you are open minded enough and do not mind hear a lot of crap mixed with some really interesting facts, watch the Zeitgeist Addendum (with the eye).

Edited to add. If you want to skip the first five minutes, that will take you to the interesting part.
