Meet the new wave...same as the old wave.

I couldn't care less if people keep mocking Sarah Palin. I think she's proven to be a much bigger girl than many of her supporters, and can handle it. The only thing that I found bothersome were the voices supposedly from the liberal feminist corner suddenly claiming that a mother of a new baby with a slightly imperfect home life has no place in the executive branch- on the grounds that she is the mother of a new baby with a slightly imperfect home life. That was far more whiplash-inducing than hearing the right-wing suddenly rallying behind a working mother with an unplanned grandchild on the way.

Um... perhaps that arguement was misunderstood? The point was that her child has special needs and perhaps she should devote more time to it and being the Vice President and President would neglect the needs of the child.
(My gut reaction? Why does she have to provide the extra attention the child needs? What about the father?)
I don't think that's a fair arguement against her, because frankly, I don't know what it takes to raise a regular child much less a special needs one, so I can't make an educated statement on it. My issues with Palin have to do with her political views, judgement and her personal beliefs - which I find not fit for someone seeking high office. Going at her for her kids seems unseemly to me.

Sarrah Palin will not be the Republican nominee for 2012, it will be John Ellis Bush.

No doubt the campaign theme song will be Meatloaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad".

My early money is on Charlie Crist.
After all, if Obama is the Anti-Christ, then he can only be stopped when Crist himself returns.
In all seriousness, Crist is probably a good choice to be a candidate. I would also not be surprised to see Bobby Jindal groomed for the job, but he will almost certainly be too young to receive the nod in 2012. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get tapped for VP though, and I would bet the farm that if the GOP fails to win in 4 years, he'll be The Candidate in 2016.
In the meantime, I just think it's funny that we're already talking about the Next Election and the Next Opponent when the Next President hasn't served a day in office. Considering how, unlike in Canada, the election cycle is already a painfully long 2+ years, let's just take a moment to enjoy a peaceful end to a looooong campaign!

Since his election, president elect Obama has been very busy getting ready for his term. Nice to see a man working even when he doesn't have the job yet !

Charlie Crist? I think he has a little too much, uh... "baggage" to get the nomination.

Valerie being a mother and a mother of an autistic child, I lost all respect for the woman, just as cheating on a spouse is a character flaw, I thought Palin putting her unwed pregnant teenage daughter up for all the world to judge was horrible and showed a person willing to put her own personal gains before that of her daughter.
This woman was supposed to be an up and coming bright light and she is young, she could have let this family crisis pass with out the blare of lights and the world looking, but she chose to treat her daughter like a lamb to slaughter. I thought it was a very telling decision.
"putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4." Sarah Palin
Amen Sarah!

Sad to say that it's posts like that that prove to me that to some people, it's flat-out impossible for Sarah Palin to do any right. Would you have rather a seventeen year old girl with a crisis pregnancy put up with the rumors in the media that she was the biological mother of her new baby brother?
Or would you rather that she, like many other girls in her situation oh, maybe 50 years ago, was sent away to "visit her aunt" during the campaign? Then the Palins would be accused of another cover-up.
There was no way around this but to be honest.

I have no idea who the Republican contender will be in 2012, but I would
very much like to see them give George Pataki a shot. I think he did a
remarkable job for New York during his tenure here. He's not sexy, and he
certainly won't appeal to the lunatic fringe, but he sure is competent.
