Just the same as every President elect before him.
No argument here Scott. However, I do remember something about Bush Jr. playing lots of golf ! Perhaps not during his pre-term preparation, but still . . . .

Wayde that is why I admired Jackie Kennedy so much, I thought she did an amazing job instilling a sense of honor in her children. Both of those kids always seemed to behave in a respectful way.
And love or hate what Clinton did, Chelsea is a remarkable young woman. At times the children can be very inspiring and wonderful role models. I look forward to watching Obama's young girls grow up.

One of my most persistent memories is of John Kenndey Jr saluting his father's casket, the little soldier left behind.
Jackie Kennedy did indeed do a remarkable job of parenting, especially with the entire world watching through the pages of the National Enquirer.
A few years ago there was film footage of our current Prime Minister shaking his young son's hand as the boy went off to start his day in school. The media, for the most part, made an issue of how cold and robotic Steven Harper was toward his son. I thought it was a charming moment, but the media thought it was indicative of what was wrong with the man. I don't know how the son responded to the "news" that his father didn't love him enough to hug or kiss him in front of complete strangers. I can only hope that their personal relationship is strong enough to allow them both to ignore such "journalism". I still think it was charming.
Regarding the Obama daughters, I hope the burden of the public eye doesn't do the children any harm. I also hope I see nothing of them in the news. Time will tell.

Not to retread very old roads but the issue was not the blow job or Lewinsky's age or that Clinton was "preying" on her -- those just make Clinton a bad dude -- the issue was that he knowingly misrepresented the truth under oath. He perjured himself. What was really stupid about it is he did so in a civil case. He could have simply refused to answer.* Instead he chose to lie under oath. The idea that a blow job is not "sexual relations" is laughable. I agree that the media focused on the salacious elements, but the issue for me (and many people I know on both sides of the political spectrum) was that the Chief Executive of the United States committed perjury.
*To that end I think his lawyer failed him. He should have objected and instructed Clinton not to answer.

That's right, Geoff. While I admire a great deal of what Clinton accomplished as president, he committed a serious crime by lying under oath.
Really, he's lucky that he was such a successful and popular president, because that offense easily could have gotten him kicked out of office, much as Richard Nixon's dishonesty forced his resignation two decades earlier. I'm not sure an unpopular president could've survived such a scandal.

To be fair, though, I would have lied about that myself.

QUOTE:
| Monica Lewinksy was in her early 20s at the time of her affair with Clinton; does that not qualify as an adult? She was also not a page, she was an intern. |

|
She was also someone who had friends tell the press (after the scandal broke) that she proudly proclaimed upon getting the intern position that she was going to the White House "to get her Presidential kneepads."

how many years and how much public money was wasted on the witchhunt against the Clintons...his answer shouldn't have been no, or yes or i object, it should have been "none of your fu***ng business."
Questions about his relationships had no bearing.

That very well may be true, Don. But Clinton turned a minor problem into a major one (and a crime to boot) by lying under oath about it. The legal system takes a very dim view of perjury, no matter how frivolous the case in question may be.

why are we not going after our lame duck president with more gusto...he lied in order to involve is in a war causing quite a few more deaths than the infamous Lewinski BJgate. I would say his actions were treasonous.
