He can ask them to vote a certain way but he can't force them.

Which is why I put parentheses around the word "give."  Giving his support means releasing his delegates, and encouraging them to back one candidate over the other.

Tim Russert is calling it for Obama.  Maureen Dowd's column identifies one of the key problem I think Obama needs to address if he wants to win the general election: working class whites.  I also think he needs to make inroads with hispanic voters.  Right now the only hispanic voting for him in november will be Bill Richardson.

I would have been shocked if Obama didn't win NC by a huge margin.  Early on they said 1/3 of the voters were black and that 90% of them were voting Obama.  That means he had 30% of the state already.  It does make me look twice when they say it isn't about race though.

Yet another interesting article in this week's Rolling Stone:

Hillary's Bitter Victory: How the Democratic campaign turned into an absurd and acrimonious culture war that threatens to split the party in two

This is the first time I've subscribed to Rolling Stone and I've gotta say that I'm loving their election year coverage.

Rolling Stone has a very left lean in its coverage.  Thats said I rarely find what is in the magazine uninteresting.  Taibbi is often hysterical, but man is he cynical.

More than likely why I enjoy it so much!

To all my former room-mates in South Bend?  Fie on you!

Mike:

Obama won the county that South Bend is in. Go Irish!

I think its very hard to find any reporting without some kind of editorial bias to the right or the left.  Fox is to the right, MSNBC and CNN are to the left.  Its just the way news is delivered.

CNN is left wing?

Ok. I sometimes forget that the left/right dividing line lies much farther to the right in America.

Yes.  Mathews loves Obama almost as much as O'Brien does.  They have some converatives (just as Fox has some Liberals).  Olbermann does not hide his politics at all.  And CNN is historically very left leaning.

Taibbi has been a great read for the last few years - he's been a strong voice in these dark times.

As for Jon... I would have been shocked if Obama didn't win NC by a huge margin.  Early on they said 1/3 of the voters were black and that 90% of them were voting Obama.  That means he had 30% of the state already.  It does make me look twice when they say it isn't about race though.

It isn't about race - plenty of non-blacks are voting for Obama - he just happens to do really well in that group.  If it were really "about" race, then he'd ONLY get votes from black people, wouldn't he?

Besides, it's an arguement in his favor - he's got whole demographic blocks locked up!  (Of course, Geoff is right about the Hispanic vote...!)
