Which is why they don't deserve to be exploited. People talk about bad employment conditions in the third world. I know its not as bad but they should look at the first world too.

Suddenly I want David Ferguson for President...

******

I've already dropped out of the race. I've told my supporters to vote for Obama :)

The question on my mind: is THIS the election that was supposed to restore honor and dignity to the White House?  Cos the last time turned out to be a bust.

Honor and dignity. What a concept.

A few more weeks and it's Obama vs McCain, let's hope they're not going to mud-wrestle.

Going to jump in late about the work holidays and such. I got it pretty sweet over here.

One week in September, two weeks over Christmas, three weeks in February, one week in May and July and August off for holidays. Almost four months paid holiday.  I call in and say I am sick and that's it. Many of the teachers are sick Monday, especially after a hard weekend drinking. Working hours, 7:50 to 2:40 Monday to Thursday and 7:50 to 11:20 am Friday. I also get paid 24 times the average Chinese salary, after taxes.

Life is so hard. Oh yeah, all the hot girls in this country are fascinated by me because of the passport and the high salary. Unfortunately, that is probably the only reason for the fascination but what can you do? I will survive.

Gotta run. Meeting a cute little sexy thing for dinner. Later.

Have to add, the average Chinese worker is on the job from about 7am to 7pm, six days a week, with a half day on Sunday. Sick days are not an option.

Joke alert: "further proof that paid sick leave or workers' rights is not the same as socialism": Joke mode off.

(That's one of the most damning aspects of applied communism: It often goes much further than "capitalist" societies in busting unions, denying workers any rights . The right to strike, safety standards, decent wage, the right to change jobs, rights to proper education, the possibility for social mobility etc. all are things that socialists were fighting for and communists suddenly deemed unnecessary when they came to power. Which is why I feel the strong corrective powers of democratic institutions need to remain in place in order to stop ANY ideology from descent into tyranny.)
