Drunk or not, she killed someone and got off for it.
---
It was a car accident. I think prosecutors should use discretion with regard
to vehicular manslaughter. If she wasn't under the influence and there were
no signs that she was willfully negligent, I'm not sure what the point would
be in sending a 17 year old girl to jail. She has to live with what she did. I've
lost friends during high school to accidents involving another driver running
a red light, and I've been in a collision where the driver overlooked a stop
sign. I still don't think every car accident fatality needs to be treated like a
crime.

Would be nice if that were true.

This is a perfect example from the opposite angle of my personal leanings. When I stepped into the booth to vote in 2000, I never considered voting against George W. Bush because his wife killed someone in a car accident or because he'd been arrested for drunk driving.

I have spent the last month and a half working for Senator Obama, my home was the campaign office in my small town, I had a campaign worker living with us for a month. Sad my state (Indiana) did not pick Senator Obama, but he got a lot closer than I thought he would.

Kevin brings up an interesting point - I turned 18 in December 1991 - so as of the 92 elections, I've been eligible to vote, and have each time, and each time, I never voted FOR someone - (for President, anyway. SF politics are fun!) - I couldn't stand Clinton or Gore or Kerry - I held my nose and voted for them - the more important thing was that I was voting AGAINST Bush and Dole and Bush and Bush.
That is why I'm so jazzed this time - I'm voting FOR someone for a change! I totally support Obama - I think that guy is the guy I want in the Oval Office - I'm not just accepting him because he's our party candidate - I really think he's the best person for the job.

Tipper was "just" the missus, and so slightly less scary. But of course Al Gore couldn't avoid catching some of that stupid when he wondered aloud why there were advertisements for R-rated movies during lesser-rated movies, where kids could see them.
And she didn't want parents informed. She wanted someone else doing the parenting. If you're so scared of what your kids are exposed to, control your kids, not my stuff.
