I don't know about the Republicans, but for the Dems, it's a toughie!
A lot of people like Richardson, and he could help Obama with the latin block... there's some buzz about the new Obama - Kansas Gov Kathleen Sebeluis - but if we thought we were going to get hammered with "experience" buzzwords before - imagine the crap-storm with her on the ticket...
Who else? Let's go crazy here - what about George Clooney! I know, I know - but still... it would be a pretty jazzy ticket.

Ted Strickland? I can live with that. Not in my top 20 picks, but he's tolerable.

"Obama and Clooney - you know you want them."
"Obama and Clooney - they're NOT too old for this shit."
"Obama and Clooney - give 'em 48 months."
"Obama and Clooney - steamy!"
"Obama and Clooney - World's Finest."
"Obama and Clooney - Peacemakers."
(Is that corny?)

Now, what's the buzz on Vice-presidential candidates? Anything from the
McCain camp or will he wait until he knows what Democratic candidate
he'll be up against? __________
After voting in five Presidential elections, I've never yet been close to correct in predicting a Vice-Presidential choice. I certainly don't have a clear thought about whom McCain might select...at first blush, I don't know if I accept the rationale that he'll necessarily pick someone with a more conservative pedigree than his own.

I've always been a sucker for Condaleeza Rice... but McCain's not going to pick anybody with the slightest ties to the Bush administration.

"I've always been a sucker for Condaleeza Rice... "
I loved the way Howard Chaykin turned her out in that miniseries of his where she was the President of the US. No one does the "Sexy perverted evil conservative ball breaking bitch (tm)" (cough- Dragon Lady-cough) like Chaykin.
That being said, she is more appealing than pretty much any other member of the Bush mis-administration.

If he does get the nomination, I hope Obama picks someone OTHER than Richardson, because he lost me with his opinions on illegal immigration during the debates.
McCain I hope picks someone decent, and Condaleeza Rice doesn't cut it. The only person who worked for Bush I wouldn't mind seeing on a ticket (either as President or VP) is Colin Powell, and sadly I don't think he'd take the job.

What was the position Richardson took -- I don't recall.

So what do they look for? Just someone who can get votes? Doesn't the VP run NASA? As well as congress or something?
