Its all relative but I think what Hagee said is about a billion times worse than anything Wright said.
I agree. The huge, huge difference is Hagee wasn't McCains minister, spiritual advisor and friend for 20 years.
*Doh. I noticed someone made the same point later.

Which was refuted as well.
"So... how does the fact that Wright is mad about the way America has
treated blacks fall under spiritual?
And again - where does Obama's record reflect that he took any of that talk
seriously?"

No, but certainly long enough that McCain could've easily dismissed and backed away from him well before now. The simple fact is that McCain is only doing it now to protect a liability.

Yes, exactly, Tom. Why now? And why is Jon Stewart the only one who has
even dared call him to task on it?
Sigh.

Well, anyone who gets as far as either McCain or Obama is going to have some questionable endorsements and associates.
Compromise is the name of the game - if you alienate everyone with whom you disagree with on principle, you'll never get anywhere in the rough 'n' tumble world of politics. You have to build networks and coalitions to become a national player like Obama and McCain.
So I think this Rev. Wright issue has been blown way out of proportion. Likewise, I see this Rev. Hagee deal as a non-starter.

Agreed, Bruce. As an atheist, I have to ignore the fact they associate with pastors/preachers/rain dancers/medicine men/Scientologists at ALL. It's doable, people...

Nowhere that I can see. That's not what I'm saying (hey, I VOTED for Obama). I'm saying it's a different situation from the McCain/Hagee situation.
"Now, in fairness, I don't know that McCain's record shows that he's a nazi either, but I have to say - I'm going to continue to slap down any attempt to attach Wright to Obama's policies, because there's just no link there."
Feel free...but you didn't see any such attempt in my post. You inferred something was there that wasn't.

I wonder if that was one of the motivating factors for McCain to actually get off his duff and do something about it? I'm sure his advisors saw the Daily Show and said, "This is just gonna keep coming up -- you should distance yourself from him before he becomes the new Wright."

NP Tom - I was watching The Dewey Cox Story and I started thinking about Bill The Cat's "Wired" period, and I hadn't changed avatars in ages, so...
