Okay, Kevin -- I still have my Billy and the Boingers recording.  It's a sickness, I tell you.

Yes, exactly, Tom. Why now? And why is Jon Stewart the only one who has
even dared call him to task on it?

Chris Matthews raised the issue too.

"Chris Matthews raised the issue too."

I missed that. Dang. (Link, anyone?)

Everyone should have been raising it. Hagee is revolting, and McCain
welcomed his endorsement.

It's about time for Wright to resurface, innit?

It was pretty quick Al, Matthews noted that Hagee had called the Catholic
Church "the great whore" (or something to that effect) and that McCain only
backed away now because he did not want to lose the Jewish vote.

I doubt it. There's nothing there, and at this point the Republicans would
only be outing the weakness of the whole thing if they trotted him out
again.

Besides, don't they have a Michelle bombshell in the wings?

So Matthews only called him on it since he disowned Hagee a day ago?

There's nothing to stop Wright from trotting himself out.  He strikes me as someone who might feel he has more to gain from losing.  After all, once a black person becomes president, it takes an iddy bitty little bit of the sting out of his rhetoric.

No, he's covered the issue before.  Keith Olbermann has brought it up on his show almost nightly for quite a while to offset coverage on Wright (since at least before Wright's comments at the Press Club).  And then, there's been the print coverage.

Like Michael, I've noticed it in print and heard about it on a few spots -- still, it didn't get the national attention that I was expecting.  Until now, I guess.  Though I think it's pretty much a non-issue.  I think with McCain's announcement, maybe this whole religious "leader" issue will die away with it.

Hillary is probably already thinking of ways to invoke the 25th amendment.
