"Matthews noted that Hagee had called the Catholic Church "the great whore" (or something to that effect)"
Geez, that just means he's Protestant. What, suddenly it's wrong to refer to the Catholic Church as a trowel-painted syphilitic crack whore? Just shows you how long it's been since I attended Lutheran Sunday School.
That's the downside to being an atheist: you lose touch with the changes in the eternal unchanging truth.

I really hope Clinton is not offered the VP spot, or if she is I hope she turns it down. If she was Obama's running mate as the VP on the ticket I would be completely torn. Since, if he won, Obama would be making all the policy decisions, I'm still thinking I would vote McCain but it would make me think twice.

So... this morning's headlines has Bill Clinton blaming a "conspiracy" to have his wife "cry uncle" even though she's winning the popular vote.
Good God, will the Clinton paranoia ever end?

The popular vote only matters when the popular vote matters. It's only been that way my entire life, but people conveniently forget it when it has leverage for them, just as they even-more-conveniently remember it when the tables are turned. It's like the swaggering I-Ain't-Presidentin'-By-No-Opinion-Polls attitude that gets dropped when 51%-Of-Unmarried-Ukrainian-Immigrants-Love-Gitmo rears its focus-grouped head.
If the popular vote mattered he wouldn't have to flog it. But we use delegates. He's run for President before; didn't he know this?

I don't know. Let's ask Al Gore.

Anyone catch Recount on HBO? Laura Dern's getting all the buzz but I thought Tom Wilkinson stole the show.

I caught it Kevin -- and I agree. But I find Jim Baker a very interesting subject to begin with, I wonder, as it pertains to the strategy meetings, how much of the script was "historical" and how much was "fiction."

The HBO program seemed to parallel Jeffrey Toobin's book Too Close To Call, without being named as a source. Great book, with a clear mix of journalism and opinion that makes it work for me.

Unless Obama wants two VPs, he'd better look somewhere other than the Clintons.

I say Jim Webb for Obama's VP -- military experience AND liberal. He's like my dream man.

The role of the Vice-President has changed dramatically in the last 16 years thanks to Gore and Cheney. I think Obama and McCain should be looking for candidates who will help them govern, rather than who might help them get elected.
