>>I give props when it's called for - I think Bush did good work for Africa ... but power to him for listing and increasing funding.<<

You can't solve a problem by throwing money at it, we can't, as a country, keep printing money like there is no tomorrow. It's about sustainability in Africa and money alone will not solves this problem.
I don't understand why abstinence is such a terrible thing. I know it is unrealistic but assuring his place in hell...?

"we can't"?  Thought you were from Uruguay?

His funding wasn't throwing money into a pit, it was about helping to establish sustainability, and it wasn't all just lump sums, but rather, cancellation of debts and lowering of tarriffs.

Likewise, pushing the idea of abstanance in the face of AIDS is like pushing diet to hungry people - sex is a biological function - humans are not inclined to abstain - which is why it's historically been a failure of an idea - to suggest it to these people is to condem them to death.

You finally fell for my <ultimate> evil plot!

:}

... and yes my family immigrated from South America. We even followed the laws to citizenship. Dirt poor, spoke little English and somehow we managed without amnesty.

Ah. I think most people here see "Location: Uruguay" in your profile and
think that means that you currently live there, Daniel.

It's unfair and quite frankly evil to force peoples of different lands and faiths to abide by the strict Judeo-Christian ideas of human sexuality - that those who engage in sex outside of lifetime monogamous, Church certified relationships deserve horrible punishment.

I don't understand religions in which Hell is not for priests who molest little children, but for impoverished people who don't have much to look forward in their daily lives other than the brief moments of passion that sex brings. I don't understand organizations which do nothing but take and take and use that immense wealth and power to make the lives of the poorest, weakest folk even more miserable. Condoms saves lives. Prevents disease, prevents children from losing their parents, prevents children from being born to prostitutes. God doesn't prevent any of that.

If we can't help people in Africa to make their lives materially better (screw Hell and Heaven and all that fantastical bullshit) then we should just leave them alone.

No.  Clinton was at a private fund raiser the night before the primary.  She was not campaigning in the state.

You sure about that Scott?

Yes I am 100%.  Did you notice the word "after"

Presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) addresses her supporters after winning the Florida democratic primary election.

If you want to include "after" the primary then Obama is just as guilty.

Rev. Wright Redux.

It looks like another video from the church Obama still attends is making the rounds.
